Destination of the Week – Trump Golf – The Five Trump Courses You Should Play in 2017

This week, in honour of the US Presidential Inauguration, we are doing something a bit different for Destination of the Week. Instead of looking at an individual city or resort we are looking at a brand that spans the world. Yes, we are looking at the courses owned by the Trump Organisation on the week that Donald J. Trump becomes the 45th President of the United States. The company owns 12 properties in the US, 2 in Dubai and 3 in Europe. Here are the five you should play in 2017.

Trump National Doral Golf Club, Miami, Florida

Home to four excellent golf courses, including the world-famous Blue Monster, Doral is one of the best golf resorts in Florida. There is also the Jim McLean Golf School should you want a quick tune-up before heading to the course. The Red Tiger is a course for the tacticians and strategists, the accurate golfers out there. Like all courses at Doral it has a lot of water to navigate around.

Gil Hanse, designer of the Olympic golf course for Rio, created The Golden Palm. This links-style course has unique bunkers and highly contoured greens to challenge golfers of any skill level. The Silver Fox is the second-hardest course on the property. With perfect white bunkers and water on 16 of the 18 holes, you need to be accurate! This is a test of golf, make no mistake, but it is a course to be enjoyed.

The Blue Monster was overhauled in 2014 and saw every green rebuilt. Gil Hanse and Donald Trump worked together on this project to create this beautiful Floridian course. It is a bit of a brute at over 7,600-yards especially with its need for clever tactical golf. The 18th is one of the most famous finishing holes in all of golf.

Trump National Golf Club, Los Angeles, California

This course has some fairly famous neighbours. Yes, Trump National Los Angeles sits between Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines. Perched on the cliffs of California’s pacific coast with breath-taking views, this Pete Dye course is a real treat. This course cost around $260 million to build! After purchasing the property Donald Trump and Jim Fazio remodelled the course.

The luxurious experience at Trump National is all part of what makes golf here so special. Every hole on the course offers Ocean views. One of the best holes on the course includes the par-3 8th. This long par-3 is protected by water, sand and scrubland so you better hit a solid tee-shot!

The final hole at this course plays out to an incredible panoramic view looking out to the Pacific Ocean. Don’t let the scenery fool you though, this is a brute! With fourteen bunkers and playing into a prevailing wind, the par-5 will test you to the end. Don’t worry though, the huge clubhouse is waiting for you!

Trump International Golf Club, Dubai, UAE

This course is the work of Gil Hanse and his team. Trump International Dubai emerged from flat and barren desert land. Natural features are used to provide character. The course travels around a barranca, a small narrow river gorge, providing a need for some intricate shots to avoid it.

The fairways on the course have gentle rolling hills that work their way between riveted bunkers. The course will provide a test to advanced and average golfers alike. Gusting winds, a factor that is difficult to escape in the area, also add to the challenge.

The Trump golf experience is built on luxury and unsurpassed quality. This Middle East is already renowned for this. The most-impressive thing about Trump Dubai is that the experience still stands-out despite tough competition.

When Donald Trump bought the property upon which Trump International Golf Links now resides, he stated that he was going to create the ‘best course in the world’. He called on the skills of Dr. Martin Hawtree to deliver his vision. This is a true modern masterpiece created through incredible attention to detail.

The course meanders through great sand dunes providing the golfer with a feeling of seclusion. Panoramic views of the North Sea create an incredible backdrop to the already visually-stunning links. There are no weak holes at Trump International Golf Links. Clever bunkering provides a test to advanced golfers whilst a great selection of tees make it playable to all.

This course has been rated number 95 in the All Square Top 100 Courses of the World rankings for 2017. Trump International Golf Links is an immaculate and world-renowned test of golf.

The course has been refined since both of those events. Renowned course architect Martin Ebert, oversaw a dramatic but sympathetic overhaul of the course. The result is nothing short of perfection.
