What’s in Max Homa’s winning golf bag?

Max Homa chipped in for birdie at the 72nd hole and retained the Fortinet Championship on the PGA Tour in dramatic fashion ahead of Danny Willett. Let’s delve into the American’s winning golf bag.

The defending champion was a shot behind Willett going up the last, but then holed his chip from off the green before Willett three-putted from three feet at Silverado Resort in Napa, California.

Homa now heads off to the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina.

What’s in the bag?

Homa is a Titleist staffer and has a full complement of the brand’s clubs. He uses a Titleist TSR3 driver with 10 degrees of loft, which replaced the TSi3, TS3 and TS4 models that he used last season. Then for his fairway woods he has the TSR3 and TSR2.

It’s a mix for his irons, with a Titleist T100S for his four-iron, an iron designed for distance. He then uses a T100 for his five iron. The T100 is one of the thinnest, most blade-looking cavity irons on the market and more forgiving than his 620MB blades.

He has the 620MB blades from six-iron down to nine, which have a reduced offset for the ultimate player’s look, progressive blade length for optimized play throughout the set, and Tour-refined sole for improved turf interaction. His irons served him well in California, hitting 71 percent of greens in regulation.

In terms of his wedges, the 31-year-old chipped in on the final hole with one of his Vokey Design SM9‘s after he upgraded from SM8‘s. Other Titleist staffers Cameron Smith, Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas have also transitioned to the newer model.

Homa is now using a Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 Prototype putter after previously using the Scotty Cameron Phantom X 11.5.

For his ball, Homa has been using the Titleist Pro V1 for his entire professional career, the most popular ball on the PGA Tour. It’s now seven straight years that the opening event of the PGA Tour season has been won by a player using a Titleist golf ball.
