The Best Golf Courses in Southeast Asia (2025)
In a highly anticipated TGL match on February 4, 2025, Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC) delivered a commanding performance, defeating Boston Common Golf (BCG) with a final score of 6-2 at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Dominant Start by Los Angeles
LAGC’s trio—Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, and Tommy Fleetwood—set an aggressive tone from the outset. They secured victories in the first three holes of the alternate-shot “Triples” format, establishing an early 3-0 lead. This strong start was pivotal, as teams that secure the initial lead have a notable advantage, now holding a 4-1 record this season.
Boston’s Struggles on the Green
BCG, featuring Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott, and Keegan Bradley, faced challenges, particularly with their putting. Unlike their previous match, where they made three putts from 10 feet or longer, this time they managed only one successful putt beyond three feet, which occurred on the first hole—a hole they ultimately lost. This difficulty on the greens hindered their ability to close the gap.
Standout Performances
Collin Morikawa showcased exceptional iron play, contributing significantly to LAGC’s success. His precise approach shots on the first and fifth holes set up birdie opportunities that teammate Justin Rose capitalized on. Morikawa’s performance underscored his reputation as one of the premier iron players in the world.
Boston’s Late Rally Falls Short
Despite the early deficit, BCG attempted a comeback during the singles matches. Keegan Bradley secured two points for Boston, winning the 12th and 15th holes. However, these efforts were insufficient to overcome LAGC’s substantial lead.
Looking Ahead
This victory propels Los Angeles Golf Club to a 2-0 record, solidifying their position as early frontrunners in the TGL season. Conversely, Boston Common Golf, now at 0-1-1, will need to regroup and strategize for their upcoming matches to remain competitive in the league standings.
