When we talk of the great courses we have played around the world we almost always talk of 18-hole championship courses. This is reasonable, as we all know, golf courses tend to be 18 holes and mix of par 3,4 and 5s.
Many of us have also played par 3 golf courses and they are usually 9-hole set-ups. Today we would like to introduce you to an 18-hole par 3 course that is considered to be one of the best short courses in the world.
Turtle Hill Golf Club is a golf course you will struggle to forget. It is an 18-hole par 3 course and, at 2684-yards, is a tricky little course that will really test your shortgame. When you take the elevation changes and the strong coastal winds together, you end up with a course that will require patience and clever shot-making.
This is regarded as one of the best par 3 courses in the world. The views of the Atlantic Ocean create a wonderful backdrop for this tricky little gem. Each hole has three tees to choose from and many bunkers to avoid. Whether you are new to the game or a seasoned-golfer, this course will test you.
Every year, Turtle Hill Golf Club hosts The Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship. The international field for the event is made up of professional and amateur golfers. The event is split into professional, amateur men’s and ladies divisions and is played over 36-holes. For more information on this championship check the event page on All Square. The championship is a great excuse to play some of the other courses on Bermuda too.
With six courses within the 21 square miles of the islands, Bermuda has more golf courses per capita than anywhere else in the world. The dramatic terrain of the island makes for some of the most memorable golfing experiences you’ll encounter.
The courses on the island pride themselves on the experience they give their golfers. Whether it is your first round on the paradisiacal turf or you’re returning after many previous trips, you will be treated like a VIP and enjoy every moment. Even if you’re playing poorly.
Two of the notable courses on the island are Mid Ocean Club and Port Royal Club are two highlights. Mid Ocean has hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf event twice. It is widely regarded as one of the best courses in the world. The final two holes on the course are two of the finest holes in all of golf!
Port Royal became the host course of the PGA Grand Slam of golf after its tenure at Mid Ocean. Port Royal was the work of Robert Trent Jones. Almost every hole on the course has a fantastic ocean view.
The other courses on Bermuda are Tucker’s Point, Ocean View Golf Club, Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club, Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Club. At each of these facilities you are sure to have a great experience.
