How Does World #1 Scottie Scheffler Warm Up?
Set to open in spring 2023, Ombria Resort in the Algarve will encompass a five-star hotel and residences, alongside apartments, townhouses and villas, an 18-hole golf course, several restaurants and a spa.
The resort will offer not just a luxury break in a village-like setting in secluded countryside, but also high-class real estate rental and investment opportunities.
The resort is situated in the hilly Barrocal region a few miles north of Loule, around 20 minutes by car from Faro airport. The coastline, dotted with pretty seaside towns full of historic Portuguese charm, beaches and promenades, is around the same distance away.
The resort is surrounded by verdant rolling valleys and forests, lakes, waterfalls, olive groves and vineyards. The nature reserve Fonte de Benemola is also nearby, while principles of sustainability including bioclimatic architecture and solar power were used in the resort’s design and construction. The result is a serene sanctuary built in harmony with the cultural heritage, local biodiversity and natural beauty of the region.
The five-star Viceroy Hotel will sit at the heart of Ombria Resort and will feature 76 luxury guest rooms and suites. It will include five restaurants including fine dining, a seafood bar and bakery, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa and the Generation V Kid’s Club.
The spa is dedicated to wellness for a healthy body, sound mind and spirit, with heated pools, jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish baths, treatment rooms, and an intimate couples’ suite. Sustainable, locally-sourced salts and oils are used in the massages and treatments on offer.
Ombria Resort presents a unique investment opportunity to acquire prime real estate in the Algarve. Choose from hotel branded apartments with full management services, and luxury villas, townhouses and apartments with rental management available.
Part of the hotel complex, The Viceroy Residences offer a total of 65 one and two-bedroom apartments spread through 18 different buildings, each with three or four levels. They are fully equipped with terraces and some have their own pool or jacuzzi. The apartments are sold freehold and are fully serviced and managed by Viceroy Hotels & Resorts. Owners benefit from privileged access to the hotel’s facilities and a guaranteed rental return for the first five years. Each owner may spend up to ten weeks a year here.
The Alcedo Villas are 12 bespoke luxury detached three to seven-bedroom luxury villas available for private ownership, with tailorable finishes and spacious plots. Each comprises distinct areas that surround a central patio area. They offer the possibility of acquiring either a primary or holiday home, a buy-to-let investment property or a property for retirement.
The Oriole Village is divided into three hamlet clusters, and comprises 83 one to four-bedroom apartments, townhouses and villas with rental management available for private ownership. Owners may spend as much time as they want in their villa and use the resort’s facilities, security and maintenance services, but also have the option to fully, or partially, hand it over to the management company for holiday rental.
The 18-hole signature course, designed by veteran Portuguese architect Jorge Santana da Silva, has been respectfully integrated into the countryside and weaves around ancient rivers and trees. It has achieved the standards of golf’s most prestigious ecolabel certifications – The GEO Foundation’s certification.
The first nine holes are set by sweeping hillsides along a winding water course arising from the nearby natural reserve Fonte da Benemola, while the back nine plays through the idyllic valley of the Ribeira de Algibre, treating golfers to breathtaking views. It’s a smart course that rewards accuracy and provides a golf experience of great beauty and variation.
The clubhouse, located on a hilltop with magnificent views of the golf course and surrounding countryside, was built into the castle-like walls of an existing ruin and features a sports bar and restaurant, golf shop, swimming pool, outdoor terrace, sauna and gym facilities.
