Netflix’s new docuseries ‘Full Swing’ goes behind the scenes of the PGA Tour and its star players during one of the most dramatic years in the sport’s history. Here’s what to expect.
Produced by Box to Box Films, the creators of the hugely popular and acclaimed Netflix series ‘Formula 1: Drive to Survive’, the highly revealing series that golf fans have been waiting for will air on Netflix from February 15th.
The immersive documentary series follows golf’s star players across the entirety of the competitive calendar on the PGA Tour, and all four of golf’s major championships: the Masters, PGA, US Open and The Open. The governing bodies that conduct the majors – Augusta National, the PGA of America, USGA and The R&A – allowed unprecedented access to the show’s cameras.
Documenting dramatic successes and failures on the course, the series also digs deeper into the personal lives of the players, their friendships and intense rivalries. They are seen flying on private jets, behind the wheel of their supercars, training in the gym, or playing with their kids. The full range of emotions are on show as their hugely competitive and pressurised lives on the PGA Tour are revealed.

Among the PGA Tour players appearing in the series are Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Matt Fitzpatrick and Sahith Theegala.
Tiger Woods does not feature in the official trailer for the series which was recently released across social media, so we will have to wait to see if he makes a surprise appearance.
McIlroy was not one of the names included when the series was first announced, but the PGA Tour’s arguably most popular player appears at the end of the trailer, sitting down in a chair as a producer shouts “Quiet in the house! Action.”
The current world no.1 and FedEx champion emerged in 2022 as the main voice of the PGA Tour as the newly formed LIV Golf muscled in on the sport. In the trailer, McIlroy says: “If I want the game that I love to be played by future generations, the game needs to be pushed forward.”
It was a year like no other with the emergence of LIV Golf changing the sport’s landscape forever. LIV players Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Joaquin Niemann and Ian Poulter are included in the series, making it even more compelling. “If they want to step on my neck, I’m going to step on theirs,” says former world no.1 Johnson.
The trailer also includes footage of a furious Poulter throwing golf clubs at a locker. “You picked a helluva year to start following the PGA Tour,” he says.
