Liloan Golf Course — A Hidden Gem in the Philippines

Spain’s ‘Golden Coast’, south of Barcelona, is home to some excellent golf courses as well as beautiful coastline and great beaches, perfect for a sunny golf break.
Less than an hour from Barcelona’s international airports, the region’s main buzzy towns of Salou and Cambrils are great bases for your golf trip, with great hotels, bars and and authentic Spanish cuisine. The golf courses here are blessed with mild sunny winters and warm summers, and include designs from Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Greg Norman and Robert Trent Jones Jr.

The three courses at Infinitum Golf Club, 100km south of Barcelona, are arguably the standout layouts of the region. The club is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses, The Lakes and The Hills, which have recently hosted the European Tour’s Qualifying School. The excellent 9-hole Ruins course runs alongside Roman architectural remains and its elevated location offers great views. All three courses, with Lakes and Ruins both signature Greg Norman designs, make this club a must visit for golfers.
The golf courses are complemented by two state-of-the-art clubhouses, designed to make the most of the region’s breathtaking views, modern practice facilities and a fully equipped pro shop. There’s also three restaurants including a tapas bar.
The first public golf course in Catalonia, Golf Sant Joan is located just 15 minutes from the centre of Barcelona. Despite its proximity to the city, golfers will find a picturesque and quiet course. Designed by Seve Ballesteros, this undulating track is suited to novices and beginners alike. A family friendly club, there is also a range of facilities on site including an extensive floodlit driving range and a welcoming clubhouse.

Panoramica opened in 2008 and was designed by Bernhard Langer. It’s a beautiful course that continues to maintain its reputation for its immaculate year-round condition. The American styling meanders its way through olive and orange groves, with water hazards featuring on many of the holes, while the greens are devilishly fast.
The historic club atmosphere is still the soul of Club de Golf Vallromanes. Set on the outskirts of Barcelona amid valleys and mountains, it has a spectacular clubhouse built from an 18th century castle and a championship standard layout. There’s tight, narrow fairways surrounded by trees, huge bunkers, and the hilly terrain provides sloping fairways and multi-tiered greens. It’s in pristine condition and won’t disappoint.

Robert Trent Jones Jr designed this great course located at the foot of the towering Serra di Llaberia mountains. It’s perhaps the most scenic of all the courses on the Costa Dorada. With gullies carving their way in front of many of the greens, a strong approach game is essential. Add in six lakes, woods, more than 90 bunkers, and big greens, it will test every element of your game. The mountain setting provides a cooler environment, making it a great choice during the summer months.
