Now’s the time to treat yourself to a new pair of golf shoes with top shoe brands Ecco and FootJoy released new models for men and women for 2022. Let’s take a look.
Buying the right golf shoes is essential to feeling comfortable and stylish on the golf course, and fundamental to providing a stable, sure-footed base when swinging the golf club. So, let’s check out these new models on the market.
FootJoy Pro SL 2022

This spikeless model is the newest version of the iconic Pro SL series. Incorporating the brand’s Hyperflex design in the midsole, seen in 2020’s FootJoy Stratos golf shoe, this waterproof model is extremely comfortable to wear and among the best spikeless golf shoes on the market, providing good traction even in wet and wintry conditions. Clean and smart aesthetics add to the appeal. Average price: €165.
BOA Option: Yes. Colours: White/Grey, White/Navy/Red, Grey/Charcoal & Black/Charcoal
The spikeless FootJoy Fuel golf shoe combines a modern, athletic look with the high level golf performance. The synthetic upper is hard wearing. Plenty of traction and waterproof protection provided and they’re very stylish and go well with shorts or trousers. Average price: €150.
Colours: Navy/White/Red, White/Black/Orange, White/White/Blue, White/Black/Orange.
FootJoy Premiere Series Flint
This traditional spikeless golf shoe is waterproof and has classic styling. Despite its traditional looks, it’s spikeless but grip is provided by the Versa-Trax+ Outsole, while inside, the Ortholite FitBed gives stability. There’s a leather upper and smart detailing makes this an elegant option. Average price: €175.
Colours: White, Black or Blue.
Ecco Biom C4

Packed with the latest shoe technology, this spikeless shoe provides great overall comfort, grip and style. The breathability is very good, provided by Ecco’s Exhaust Grid technology combined with Gore-Tex surround and Ortholite insole. Smart aesthetics give the shoe a modern, athletic look. Average price: €210.
Colours: White, Navy, White/Black, Grey/Blue.
This is a great summer spikeless option that’s got a sporty and athletic look so will look great on and off the course. A leather upper and a Gore-Tex membrane makes the shoe breathable and waterproof. A new MTN Grip outsole provides traction and stability which also features Ecco’s Fluidform technology as well as TPU inserts that provide comfort. Average price: €175.
BOA Option: Yes. Colours: White, Black, Grey, Pink.
Great spikeless all-rounders and a new Carbon version has a carbon fibre inlay placed in the midsole along the length of the shoe for more stability. And the immensely popular Pro version has improved grip and stability than predecessors. Average price: €170.
Colours: Black, White.
FootJoy Tour Alpha

This waterproof spiked shoe is extremely stable and gives golfers great swing grip. So for golfers who want increased stability, this is the shoe for you. There’s lots of padding around the ankle and underfoot for comfort. They have a classic look but with modern styling. Average price: €175.
BOA Option: Yes. Colours: White, Black/White, Grey/Blue.
FootJoy Hyperflex
This is a modern looking spiked shoe with athletic styling. They’re great for comfort and offer excellent traction and waterproof. These shoes have a new Wrapid BOA fastening system but there’s a traditional laced version too. Ridges in the outsole allow for flexibility and there’s plenty of grip. Average price: €165.
BOA Option: Yes. Colours: Grey, Blue, Black, Grey.
FootJoy Traditions
This spiked shoe is traditionally styled, hence the name. They are super comfortable, with foam under foot which is light and provides great bounce as you walk. This we’d expect from a more sporty design but it’s good to see it in these. Great variety of colours and the smart tartan version echoes golf’s Scottish roots. Average price: €110.
Colours: White, White/Navy, Black, White/Tartan.
FootJoy Fuel
Colours: White/White/Pink, Grey/Yellow/Pink)
A great summer option with the light colour options. Very comfortable spikeless shoe with soft Stratolite foam cushioning. They have a trainer style look and fit so look good on and off the course. With new Power Stabiliser outsoles they give golfers excellent stability and traction. Synthetic uppers give waterproof protection and you can wipe the shoes clean after a round. Average price: €135.
Ecco Biom H4 BOA
Very comfortable spikeless shoes and Natural Motion technology built into the sole allows the foot to move naturally close to the ground. And the Ecco’s special GRIP outsole combines traction, stability and rotational support. The shoes are made from high-performance leather and are totally waterproof and breathable. Average price: €140.
