What’s in Xander Schauffele’s winning golf bag?

Xander Schauffele holed a six-foot birdie putt at the 18th to win his first major at the US PGA Championship. Here’s what the Callaway staffer was carrying in his golf bag.

The American shot a final day six-under 65 to hold off Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland to claim the Wanamaker Trophy, finishing on 21 under at Valhalla in Kentucky.

The 30-year-old Olympic gold medallist led the tournament at the end of day one, equalling the best ever round at a major when he shot 62.

England’s Justin Rose finished in a tie for sixth on 14 under, becoming only the second player aged over 40 alongside Sam Snead to make five consecutive top-15 finishes at this event.

The world’s top two ranked players Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy finsihed in T-8 and T-12 respectively. The next men’s major is the US Open at Pinehurst in four weeks time.

What’s in the bag

Schauffele is a Callaway staff player and for his driver he was using the American brand’s Paradym Ai Smoke which is the number one selling driver in the U.S. market for the first quarter of 2024.

He put the Triple Diamond model in play at the start of the season, designed for high swing-speed players seeking to reduce spin. The adjustable weights were set at seven grams in front and nine in the back, allowing him to work the ball both ways which he likes to do.

For his irons, his Callaway Apex TCB’s have tungsten weighting which makes them play more forgiving. They’re also cavity back, as he doesn’t like playing with blades. Schauffele was also using the Callaway Chrome Tour golf ball, the second most played ball at the PGA Championship with 22 players using this model or the Chrome Tour X.
