Unlocking the Secrets of Putter Hosels and Zero Torque Designs

The Canary Islands are located in the Atlantic Ocean to the west of Morocco. With a warm, humid climate and relaxing winds from the Gulf Stream, these marvelous islands offer a unique golfing experience with optimal conditions, a complete range of facilities and the perfect atmosphere where you can play a round almost any day of the year!
It is the breathtaking volcanic landscapes that make the Canary Islands a truly special golfing location. The most exciting golfing layouts can be found on the largest and most populous of the Canaries, Tenerife and Gran Canaria. We also recommend planning a trip to the smallest of the Canary Islands, La Gomera.
There is probably no greater symbol of paradise than palm trees. Well the golf course at Abama features no less than 90,000 of them! The late Dave Thomas was responsible for the fantastic course at Abama.
The course meanders around 22 lakes and takes in incredible views of the Atlantic and the island of La Gomera. This is a challenging course with undulating and elevated greens. You don’t want to miss on the wrong side of these greens, well unless you’ve got the touch of Mickelson. The signature hole is the par five 10th. This absolutely stunning hole involves a downhill tee shot past some lurking water hazards and bunkers. The doglegged approach to the green creates a visual treat.
All Square member Uwe Born calls it the “best Canarien golf course”.
The course at Golf del Sur is one for the precision golfers. This facility features 27 holes and has been designed to showcase the native flora and fauna of the land. Again, palm trees feature heavily as do the very dark-sanded bunkers.
This is a tricky course, especially the 3rd and 4th holes. However, even if you are having an off day the views around this track will keep you smiling. The impressive ravine that cuts through the course and the views of Mount Teide add to the great experience.
The 18-hole Parkland Buenavista Golf, designed by Seve Ballesteros, is located atop the cliffs and close to the Teno Country Park. Open since 2003, this varied and interesting layout takes in the stunning coastline of Isla Baja and is arguably one of the most spectacular courses on the island.
The par 3’s of the back nine will require every ounce of your attention as both are situated on a cliff! A waterfall and an ornamental lake connect the 9th and 18th holes. This feature provides the cherry on the cake of what will surely be a memorable round of golf.
All Square user Gael Balestra says: “My favourite in Tenerife. Beautiful golf course and stunning views”.
Situated right next to the ocean in the north of the island, the 18-hole par 71 Lopesan Meloneras Golf Course, designed by American Ron Kirby, provides stunning views of the sea, the beautiful yacht harbor of Pasito Blanco, the sand dunes of Maspalomas and the impressive Canary Mountains. The architect managed to successfully integrate the course into the landscape whilst retaining the terrain’s natural beauty.
There are two holes where the players are forced to hit over the famous “barrancos” – the typical Canarian valleys formed of volcanic rocks. Each hole is equipped with 4 tees, making the design of this course attractive for the golfer of any level.
Maspalomas Golf Course is located in the southeast of the island and offers one of the places in the world with the most hours of sunshine per year. The course, which opened in 1968, is very close to the most important tourist area in Gran Canaria, with spectacular beaches of fine, golden sand where you will find everything you need.
The Maspalomas golf course is flat and extensive with long and broad fairways. The proximity of the sea and the gentle breeze turn a game on this course into the most pleasant experience for every golfer.
Designed in 2003 by renowned golf course architect Donald Steel and situated on the smallest of the Canary Islands, Tecina Golf offers the opportunity to play golf in a unique natural setting.
The course offers spectacular views of the Tecina valley and the Atlantic Ocean with the majestic Mount Teide in the background. Tecina Golf has it all: superb design, breathtaking scenery and a championship course, which hosted already a Challenge Tour event.
“The views on this course are outstanding. I personally called it the Torrey Pines of Europe”, says All Square ambassador Florian Pichler.
