The French resort Golf du Medoc has been rebranded as Cabot Bordeaux after being acquired by The Cabot Collection, the Canadian developer and operator of luxury resort and residential golf destinations.
The popular resort for golf and wine enthusiasts is home to two internationally acclaimed 18-hole courses nestled in the vineyards of Medoc in southwest France. Its acquisition is a milestone for Cabot as it expands its international presence to include its first continental European location.
Wonderfully set in 400 acres of picturesque French countryside, this secluded and sophisticated resort joins such vaunted destinations as Cabot Saint Lucia in the Caribbean, Cabot Revelstoke in British Columbia, Cabot Citrus Farms in Florida, Cabot Highlands in Scotland and Cabot Cape Breton in Nova Scotia offering a luxury and boutique lifestyle experience for golfers.

“Bordeaux holds a special place in the hearts of travellers worldwide, known not only for its rich history and stunning landscapes but also for its remarkable culinary offerings and universally revered wine,” said Ben Cowan-Dewar, CEO and co-founder of Cabot.
“We are thrilled to now have a presence in this iconic destination and look forward to offering guests unforgettable experiences that seamlessly blend exploration and cultural immersion with world-class golf.”

The acquisition by Cabot will, over the coming year, involve a complete reimagining of the former Golf du Medoc Resort which will elevate it to five-star status. As well as minor upgrades to its world-class golf courses and a redesigned clubhouse, the resort will have its 79 rooms and suites, spa, culinary outlets, gathering spaces, wine cave and wealth of memorable experiences of the course all refreshed.
Under its new name Cabot Bordeaux, the resort will be renewed with updated design elements while preserving its historic charm. Visitors can expect elevated immersive experiences, new destination-specific activities and expanded amenities, while interior design updates will be led by acclaimed UK-based design firm Russell Sage Studio.

Perfectly located for lovers of wine, Bordeaux is arguably the world’s wine capital with 250,000 acres of vineyards producing a diverse range of award-winning wines. The city itself, just half an hour from the resort, is full of museums and castles, cobblestone streets and Michelin-starred food.

Also, just a short drive away lies the medieval village of Saint-Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its 2,000-year vineyard history and underground wine caves. The Bordeaux-Merignac International Airport is 20 minutes south of the resort, while Paris is only two hours away by train.

Both golf courses at Cabot Bordeaux, the Chateaux and the Vignes, are laid across 150 hectares of gorgeous Bordeaux countryside. The award-winning Chateaux championship course, designed by Bill Coore, hosted the French Open in 1999 and is a pretty Scottish links-style layout with wide fairways bordered by heathers, gorses and brooms with high-quality greens. Vignes, designed by Rod Whitman, is wonderfully embedded in the local landscape, where heather and pines hug the fairways.
