Golf Vacations in the Caribbean: A Paradise for Golfers
Jon Rahm has signed a multi-year deal with Callaway Golf to use the brand’s equipment. The world’s second ranked player will use a full bag of Callaway woods, irons, and wedges, along with the brand’s putter and ball.
Rahm’s 2021 bag will include Callaway’s prototype woods and irons, along with the brand’s Jaws MD5 forged wedges, Odyssey putter and Chrome Soft X golf ball.
The big Spaniard worked with Callaway to set up the specifications for each of his new clubs and will debut as a Callaway staffer at this week’s Sentry Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Maui.
The 26-year-old used Callaway and Odyssey equipment during a successful collegiate career at Arizona State University, before switching to TaylorMade after turning pro.
He said: “I’m so happy to be joining Callaway. The equipment is already performing really well for me – I actually shot a course record 59 in my first round with the new setup.”
Rahm will wear a hat with Callaway on the front and use the brand’s staff bag. He will also wear clothes from Travis Mathew, a sister brand of Callaway’s.
Rahm briefly got to world number one in July 2020 and has five PGA Tour wins and 6 on the European Tour. He is yet to win a major championship.
50 year-old Phil Mickelson has long been Callaway’s poster player, a mantle Rahm looks like he will now eventually take up.
Here’s what he’ll be carrying in his bag.
Callaway Proto Triple Diamond (10.5 degrees)
Shaft: Aldila Tour Green 75 TX
Rahm had been using a TaylorMade SIM driver with 9 degrees of loft, along with two SIM fairway woods at 14.5 and 17.5 degrees. He will now use the Callaway Proto Triple Diamond driver and a couple of Mavrik Sub Zero fairway woods. They have 16.5 and 18 degrees of loft.
Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero (16.5 degrees)
Shaft: Aldila Tour Green 75 TX
Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero (18 degrees)
Shaft: Graphite Design Tour AD DI (Black) 8 X
Callaway UT Proto (3), Callaway Apex Proto (4-PW)
Shatfs: Project X Rifle 6.5
Rahm will now use a Callaway UT Proto for his three-iron, while from four-iron to pitching wedge he will use Callaway Apex Proto’s.
Callaway Jaws Forged JPN (52-8, 56-12, 60-10)
Shafts: Project X Rifle 6.5
Rahm had been using TaylorMade Milled Grind 2 and Hi-Toe wedges, but now switches to Callaway Forged JPN wedges at 52, 56, and 60 degrees of loft.
TaylorMade Spider X (we expect him to switch to an Odyssey model soon)
Callaway Chrome Soft X
He will use a Callaway Chrome Soft X golf ball. His previous balls had the number 10 on because his birthday is November 10th and his favourite player on a football pitch is the number 10. We’ll see if this remains on his new ball.
Must be why he is getting all the press lately. I keep seeing all sorts of Jonh Rahmbo memes about how he is going to tear it up this year. Wish someone was willing to pay an average golfer like me to play their clubs.
