Pineapple Valley Golf Club in the resort city of Hua Hin in Thailand is a stunningly beautiful place to play golf with a host of stay and play options.
Formerly known as Banyan Golf Club, it was rebranded in March 2024 to reflect the club’s history and the region’s rich heritage as the birthplace of Thai golf. The course, thoughtfully laid out by designer Pirapon Namatra over a former pineapple plantation, has won multiple awards since it opened in 2009.
Located on the Gulf of Thailand, Hua Hin is a palm-fringed seaside resort city famous for its picturesque beaches such as Khao Takiab and Hua Hin Beach, lively night markets and luxurious beachfront resorts. It’s also known as the Thai royal family’s holiday destination, boasting the Maruekhathaiyawan Palace, the Wat Huay Mongkol temple, Rajabhakti Park with its 14-meter-tall statues and the famous Phraya Nakon cave.
Hua Hin is not just a tropical paradise for beachgoers and foodies, but also a magical place for golfers with some of the most scenic courses in south-east Asia. Many of the golf courses are conveniently located just a short drive away from Hua Hin’s centre and most clubs offer caddie services for golfers to make the most of their golfing experience.
It’s also a great destination to visit during winter. April is the hottest month with an average temperature of 30°C and the coldest is December at 26°C, and there’s always plenty of sun, peaking in March with 10 daily sunshine hours.
Located just a 10-minute drive south of the city centre and 2.5 hours from Bangkok, the 18-hole Pineapple Valley Golf Club offers golfers a serene ambience in beautiful surroundings. The course blends seamlessly with the natural landscape having been carved from a former pineapple plantation and we rate it as Thailand’s second-best course.
There are plenty of water features, manicured greens, rolling fairways and an array of challenging hazards along with superb vistas of the ocean and the Burmese Mountains from its hilltop location. It extends to over 7,000 yards, but each hole has multiple tee boxes for golfers of various abilities and well-trained caddies provide a professional and friendly service, while all golf carts are equipped with onboard GPS.
The clubhouse is built in traditional Thai architectural style and is home to The Terrace Restaurant with its extensive all-day dining options serving an array of Thai, Asian and international cuisine. There’s also Mulligan’s Pub, located between holes 1 and 9 overlooking the golf course and valley, which has a huge selection of local and international beers, spirits and signature cocktails, as well as a large food menu.
There’s also a pro shop with the latest golf equipment and apparel as well as club fitting, a practice driving range and two dedicated short-game practice greens, and Champman’s Kiosks where you can refresh yourself around the course located at holes 5, 10 and 15.
The golf club also collaborates with some of the best hotels in Hua Hin to offer high-value stay & play packages, so golfers can combine superb golf with a relaxing stay in this fantastic resort city.
Other golf courses in Hua Hin include the Black Mountain Golf Club, set in the foothills of Black Mountain which acts as a backdrop to a number of holes. Opened in 2007, it features lush green fairways and stunning views. We rate it as Thailand’s best course. There’s also Royal Hua Hin Golf Course, nestled in the city, a historic course dating back to 1924. Reminiscent of a British parkland layout, it features a unique blend of traditional and modern elements.
Other notable golf courses in Hua Hin include the Springfield Royal Country Club, a renowned Jack Nicklaus design featuring three 9-hole courses in a picturesque setting, and Majestic Creek, a 27-hole complex of incredible beauty around 30 minutes from the city.
