Hua Hin is not just a tropical paradise for beachgoers and foodies, but also a magical place for golfers with some of the most scenic courses in south-east Asia.
Two hours south of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand, Hua Hin is a palm-fringed seaside resort city famous for its picturesque beaches such as Khao Takiab and Hua Hin Beach, lively night markets like Cicada Market and range of world-class accommodations options, from luxurious beachfront resorts to smaller boutique hotels.
The food scene here is incredible with everything from street food to high-end restaurants serving fresh seafood and spicy curries, and there’s plenty of memorable experiences on offer such as visiting one of the many elephant sanctuaries and wildlife reserves close to the city.
Many of the golf courses are conveniently located just a short drive away from Hua Hin’s centre and most clubs offer caddie services, which can help golfers make the most of their golfing experience.
One of the most famous courses in Hua Hin is the Black Mountain Golf Club, set in the foothills of Black Mountain which acts as a backdrop to a number of holes. Opened in 2007, it features lush green fairways, stunning views and a challenging layout that will test golfers of all abilities. The West Course, a superb 9-hole course, was added in 2016. The excellent facilities here include a driving range, putting green and clubhouse. We rate this as the best course in Thailand.

Banyan Golf Club, located just a few minutes south of the city centre, is another course that blends seamlessly with the natural landscape having been carved from a former pineapple plantation. We rate it as Thailand’s second best course. There’s plenty of water features, rolling fairways, and an array of challenging hazards along with superb vistas of the ocean and the Burmese Mountains. The clubhouse here is great, with superb dining options and a pro shop with the latest golf equipment and apparel.

For a more affordable option, Royal Hua Hin Golf Course is an excellent choice. Opened in 1924, this historic course is reminiscent of a British parkland layout and features a unique blend of traditional and modern elements. Located in the city, the course’s tight fairways and small greens require precision and accuracy, making it a challenging but enjoyable experience for golfers of all levels. The clubhouse at Royal Hua Hin is also worth a visit, with its classic colonial architecture and old-world charm.

Other notable golf courses in Hua Hin include the Springfield Royal Country Club. This renowned Jack Nicklaus design features five different tees to play from, encouraging all golfers to enjoy this superb course. The beautiful setting alongside the excellent facilities makes this a true golfing haven and a must-play in Hua Hin. It offers three 9-hole courses: The Mountain, The Lake and The Valley. The combination of Mountain and Lake is probably the best 18-hole configuration.

Majestic Creek is a 27-hole course of incredible beauty around 30 minutes from the city. Recent renovations and re-laying of greens has transformed it into one of the best golfing experiences in Hua Hin. Designed by Dr. Sukkitti Klangvisai, the Thai designer responsible for Phuket’s Loch Palm, it’s made up of three 9-hole courses: the Creek, Lake and Waterfall.

Sea Pines Golf Course is another fine layout and one that offers a fun risk and reward round. There are spectacular ocean views throughout with six of the 18 holes set right along the beachside towards the mountains, giving this parkland layout a links feel. It’s yet another stunningly beautiful course in Hua Hin.
