Dreaming about your next holiday? We’ve planned the perfect golf trip to the beautiful Côte d’Azur along the French Mediterranean coastline. Our itinerary includes five world-class golf courses and two luxurious hotels.
All five courses are less than 30km from each other for ultimate convenience, while Monaco, Cannes and St Tropez are within easy reach.
Arrival: Nice International Airport
Less than an hour west of Nice airport among the vineyards of Provence, the five-star resort of Terre Blanche boasts two championship-level courses and a state-of-the-art golf academy.
The two courses, Le Château and Le Riou, have been woven seamlessly into the countryside and are in immaculate condition. The holes are threaded over a rolling terrain of valleys and lakes with tree-lined fairways and lovely views across the local villages. Le Riou is perhaps more playable for a wider range of handicaps. Both courses together are golfing heaven.
Suggested accommodation: Terre Blanche Hotel
The 115 suites and villas which make up the hotel are equally at one with their surroundings. The service and facilities here are hard to beat. There are four pools, a stunning spa, and it’s a food lovers’ paradise with Michelin-starred dining.
Just 10km from Terre Blanche, the golf course at Saint Endreol is a tree-lined beauty that weaves through forest and lakes around the river Endre. Elevated tees make this a fun challenge with stunning views. The back nine is testing, but this is one of the prettiest and most playable courses in the region.
Suggested accommodation: Saint Endreol Resort
Saint Endreol Resort is home to a high-end residential hotel and is a stone’s throw to the gorgeous beaches of the French Riviera. It features an outdoor swimming pool and luxury rental options. The several accommodation choices are contemporary, yet full of local charm and comfort. There’s a luxury spa and a first-class, charming restaurant.
Just 10 minutes from Cannes and less than an hour from Saint Endreol, Royal Mougins is home to an 18-hole course steeped in Provencal charm which winds through a valley of olive trees and ancient stonewall terracing. Designed by world renowned architect Robert von Hagge, it’s got great variation with wide fairways, lakes and even waterfalls. It will delight and challenge in equal measure.
Suggested accommodation: Terre Blanche or Saint Endreol Resort
Only 5km from Royal Mougins Golf Club, the golf course at Golf Country Club Cannes Mougins is laid out across the foothills and lakes of the Southern Alps, close to the Valmasque National Park. Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam and Greg Norman won here when the Cannes Open was played on the European Tour. Renovated by Tom Mackenzie in 2015, it’s now one of the highest quality golf courses in the region.
Suggested accommodation: Terre Blanche or Saint Endreol Resort
Cannes Mandelieu is less than 10km from Golf Country Club Cannes Mougins. The Old Course here is one of the oldest courses in France and dates back to 1891. This venerated institution has stood the test of time. Laid out in a parkland style across flat terrain close to where the River Siagne meets the Mediterranean, it’s played through a cooling canopy of pine trees. It’s tranquil and peaceful and cloaked by nature and two river crossings on a small pontoon-ferry add to the charm.
