What’s in Tommy Fleetwood’s winning golf bag?
Let’s find out what clubs Hideki Matsuyama is putting in his golf bag. The Japanese five-time PGA Tour winner became the world’s number two ranked player after his runner-up finish at the 2017 US Open, but has since dropped to 18.
He is yet to win a major but has recorded top six finishes at all four of them. He does though have two WGC titles to his name, the 2016 WGC-HSBC Champions and the 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Srixon ZX5 (9 degrees @ 10)
Shaft: Graphite Design Tour AD-DI 8X
The 28-year-old has been using a selection of drivers in recent years in a bid to rediscover his best form. He has used the Ping G400 Tour 65 driver, the Callaway Epic Flash and the TaylorMade M5.
But he has just switched to the brand new Srixon ZX5 driver, which he has dialled up to 10 degrees, and was using it at the season-ending Tour Championship at East Lake.
TaylorMade SIM Max (15 degrees)
Shaft: Graphite Design Tour AD XC 9TX
TaylorMade UDI UHY (3-iron)
Shaft: Graphite Design Tour AD DI Hybrid 115 TX
He has the TaylorMade SIM Max 3 wood in the bag, along with a SIM UDI UHY utility 3-iron.
Srixon ZX (4-iron), Srixon Z-Forged (5-PW)
Shafts: True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 Tour Issue
He uses a Srixon ZX for his 4-iron. Shane Lowry is another top pro to use ZX irons. For his 5-iron down to pitching wedge he goes with Srixon Z-Forged blades.
Cleveland RTX4 Forged (52, 56 and 60 degrees)
Shaft: True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 Tour Issue
Matsuyama currently has three Cleveland RTX-4 wedges in the bag, at 52, 56 and 60 degrees of loft.
Scotty Cameron prototype
Shaft: LAGP TPZ
A bit like his driver situation, Matsuyama’s putter has been changing regularly during the past year. He has been seen using a Scotty Cameron Circle T GSS, then a TaylorMade prototype. Right now he has got a Scotty Cameron prototype in the bag.
