Si Woo Kim birdied his final two holes on his way to a one-shot win at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He’s a Callaway staffer and used the brand’s new driver.
The South Korean missed the green with his tee-shot at the par-3 17th but then dramatically chipped in from close to 30 feet for birdie. He then birdied the par-5 final hole to finish on 18-under par, one shot ahead of Hayden Buckley.
Kim’s impressive back-to-back rounds of 64 secured the win at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, which was his fourth victory on the PGA Tour.
Kim hit the pivotal chip on the 17th with his Callaway Jaws Raw 60-degree wedge. His irons are also Callaway, the X-Forged CB, a cavity-back players iron. Kim also played off the tee with a driver, 3-wood, 5-wood combination of Callaway’s new Paradym Triple Diamond metalwoods.
Callaway’s new Paradym drivers come in three models: Paradym, Paradym X, and Paradym Triple Diamond. Kim’s Triple Diamond is slightly smaller than the other two and offers the lowest spin with a neutral flight. It’s designed for better players who want to work the ball more.
Callaway Paradym has now won both PGA TOUR events in 2023, after Jon Rahm won The Sentry Tournament of Champions. Callaway’s Jaws Raw Wedges, Chrome Soft X golf balls and Odyssey putters are also now back-to-back winners in 2023.
