Brooks Koepka has joined Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as a three-time winner of the PGA Championship. Here’s the clubs he used to make history.
The 33-year-old got the better of Viktor Hovland and saw off a late challenge from Scottie Scheffler, who returns to No. 1 in the world rankings, to claim victory and a fifth major title. He started Sunday in the lead and avoided a repeat of his final-round disappointment at The Masters, when he said he “choked”.
Koepka hit seven birdies with four bogeys for a three-under 67 to finish on nine under, enough for a two-shot victory over Scheffler and Hovland. Bryson DeChambeau finished in a share of fourth while Rory McIlroy ended in tied-seventh after a third consecutive 69.
McIlroy’s playing partner Michael Block, a club professional from California, produced an incredible moment with a hole-in-one at the par-three 15th. He followed this up with a brilliant putt on the last, which made sure of his invite to next year’s PGA at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
Koepka was a free agent equipment wise until he signed with Cleveland Srixon in 2022. Most notably in his bag he still caries his trusty Nike Vapor Fly Pro 3-iron before progressing to a set of Srixon ZX7 irons from 4-iron down to 9. And Instead of using a pitching wedge, he carries a 46 degree Cleveland RTX ZipCore wedge.
