What’s in Hideki Matsuyama’s winning golf bag?
Tiger and Charlie Woods returned to the PNC Championship both using TaylorMade’s yet-to-be-released driver – but what was the big difference in their bags?
Tiger Woods partnered his son Charlie at the PNC Championship for the fourth time, ending in a tie for fifth as Bernhard Langer claimed a record-equalling fifth victory in the event with his son Jason.
The Woods duo carded an 11-under 61 on the final day at the Ritz-Carlton Club in Orlando, Florida to finish six strokes behind.
On the final day, Tiger’s 14-year-old son drove the green at the 355-yard seventh using his yet-to-be-released TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver in a standard loft setting of 9 degree. Tiger was using the 10.5-degree Qi10 LS with a Graphite Design Tour AD-VF 6X shaft. Charlie had a Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6X shaft.
The TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver, which was added to the USGA’s conforming list before the Hero World Challenge at the end of November, was also recently used by Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
For his irons, Charlie again has a trend of using exactly the same ones as his dad. In this case, the 2023 TaylorMade P770s. The same wedges too, both with a TW grind.
The main difference though in their bags was their putters. Tiger used his trusty Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS blade, the club he used to win 14 of his 15 majors. Charlie went for a mallet putter, the Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5, the same one used by his dad’s friend Justin Thomas. But they both went for the same famous blacked-out Ping PP58 grip.
Here’s what Tiger and Charlie had in their bags at the PNC Championship:
