There are a number of names in golf that are regarded as the master-craftsmen. These include Bob Vokey, Roger Cleveland, Katsuhiro Miura and the subject of this article, Scotty Cameron. These men have become synonymous with creating the most incredible pieces of golfing equipment by pushing technological barriers whilst keeping quality at the highest of priorities. From the ‘TeI3 Newport’ that helped Tiger win the US Masters in 1997 to more recent creations that have helped two of the last three Masters champions into a green jacket these are iconic clubs. Today we will look in more detail at some of the most sought after and collectible clubs in golf.
The current line-up of Cameron putters consists of four families: Newport, GOLO, Futura and Dual Balance. One of the key selling points of Scotty Cameron is the ability to customise your clubs and make them exactly as you wish. This includes grip style, paint jobs and personalised stamps so you’ll never be in any doubt that it’s yours.
The brand is based on the simple but highly effective ethos that using the highest quality materials and the best design can create the best putters in the world. Cameron believes that his putters should appeal emotionally as well as physically and that when they are finished they should look like they “melt into the ground”. He continues to drive innovation in the field of putter design which is evident in the Futura line.
A startling fact is that since 1993 around one third of golfing majors have been won using a Scotty Cameron putter. These are clubs that are almost romanticised and coveted by golfers. The holy grail of putters is a Scotty Cameron with the ‘circle-T’ stamp, the tour only versions that have been created for the world’s greatest. These clubs have been crafted using even higher-grade materials and by the best craftsmen that the company have to offer. If you want to know just how special this brand is, the greatest testament to this was that once both Tiger and Rory became Nike golfers the putter was the last club they changed.
If you own a Scotty Cameron, make sure you update the “What’s in my bag” section in your All Square profile.
