The 2025 Ryder Cup Showdown
Cameron Young’s long‑awaited breakthrough finally arrived at the Wyndham Championship, where he electrified Sedgefield Country Club with a dominant performance to claim his first PGA Tour victory. The 28‑year‑old fired a tidy 2‑under 68 in the final round, sealing a six‑shot win at 22‑under and tying the tournament scoring record in style. After seven runner‑up finishes and dozens of near misses across 94 previous starts, Young etched his name into history as the 1,000th unique winner in PGA Tour annals.

Inside his bag this week, Young leaned on a pure Titleist setup — anchored by a Titleist GT2 driver (9° in an A1 SureFit neutral setting) paired with a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Orange 70 TX shaft, plus a GT3 3‑wood, a GT2 21° hybrid and irons that included T200s and prototype 631.CY blades, complemented by Vokey SM10 and WedgeWorks wedges, and a Scotty Cameron Phantom 9.5R tour‑only putter. He also made a key switch to a Titleist Pro V1x prototype ball that week, and that combination of gear served him exceptionally well across the four days.
Young’s dominance wasn’t just about hardware — it was about execution. After an unsteady bogey-start in Round 4, he rattled off five consecutive birdies to open a nine‑shot lead, then consistently held the field at bay despite a couple of late bogeys. His clean, clutch putting, led by the Phantom 9.5 prototype, helped him lead all players in strokes‑gained putting, while his ball‑striking ranked near the top off the tee, giving him full control of each round.

That week also represented the next chapter in Young’s steady rise. A Wake Forest alum who turned pro in 2019, he quickly made his mark on the Korn Ferry Tour and earned PGA Tour Rookie of the Year honours in 2021–22. Since then, he’s racked up multiple major top‑tens — including a runner‑up at the 2022 Open and a T3 at the PGA — and built a reputation as one of the most consistent contenders on Sunday, yet always just short of the winner’s circle. Now, with this Wyndham win in the rear‑view, the momentum is firmly on his side.
