Golf in Qatar

Every week, we will be interviewing passionate golfers who enjoy using All Square. During this week’s interview, we had a nice chat with Vincent Raimbault, the founder of Private Caddie. Vincent told us about his golf background, why easier courses would make golf more fun and his favorite players on tour.
1.ABOUT GOLF
To start, can you tell us how you first got into golf?
My father was an occasional golfer and he used to take me along when he was playing at Golf de Dieppe during the summer. I was 13 and instantly loved it. A few years later, I was playing and winning alongside him.
What would make golf more fun?
First, playing faster on easier courses most of the time. Golf is and should be a game as much as a sport at an amateur level. Most golfers forget and play excruciating long and difficult courses/rounds.
Secondly, playing more matchplay and alternative fun formats and leaving strokeplay to the elite golfers and occasional competitions.
Your funniest golf experience?
My 1st hole in one because I missed it!
I played the hole in a hurry because people in front were letting me through. I hit my 7-iron and quickly started walking towards the green without looking at the ball because I knew it was a good shot. Upon arriving there, I couldn’t see the ball on the green and started looking for it, conscious of the people waiting on the tee. I was ready to give it up and proceed walking to the next tee when it crossed my mind to look in the hole and there it was!
What is the golf flight of your dreams?
Tiger Woods, Steve Williams, Seve Ballesteros and myself in a Ryder Cup match played at Augusta National.
2.
How did you first discover All Square?
On the Internet, when I decided to set up a golf business in Paris. It was a long time ago, as I remember being one of the first ones registering in France.
Complete the sentence: What I like the most about All Square is …
The future and what it may hold for online businesses in the golf world and especially the tourism and service industries. France has all the ingredients to become a golfing destination. It just needs some coordination from its protagonists and hopefully All Square will help it become a reality.
Your favorite feature on All Square?
Probably the ability to check-in and see who’s playing where.
Have you met new golfers through All Square?
No as I’m playing less these days but some clients found me through it.
3. Rapid Fire, Off The Cuff Questions
Hitting long drive or sinking long putt?
“Drive for show but putt for dough. ”So it would depend on circumstances!
Having the round of your life or making a hole-in-one?
Shooting 59 for example. Any day!
Early morning or late afternoon tee off?
I like later afternoon tee off for the casting shadows and warmth in long summer evenings, especially when staying onsite!
The coolest player on Tour?
Victor Dubuisson is very cool, almost too much for his own good!
Miguel Ángel Jiménez is a definite contender and Spieth would complete the podium.
