All Square sat down for a Q&A with Martin Kaymer and asked him what his favourite golf courses are, his bucket-list course, his favourite golf holes, and much more.
The German won the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in 2010 and the US Open at Pinehurst in 2014. The former world number one also won the Players in 2014 and claimed back-to-back Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship titles in 2010 and 2011.
I would say St Andrews because I’ve won there and it’s one of the most iconic golf courses.

That must have been Golf Club Ahaus. That’s where my father took me and my brother when we were very little when we started playing golf.
That must be Golf Club Mettmann where I grew up. Since the beginning of the golf club we joined as a family and that is where I spent most of my time.
That must be Augusta National. And we all know the reasons why!

It’s very difficult to say. But I would say Pebble Beach. I have played two US Opens there. It’s very difficult to describe the feeling. I think you would have to go there and see for yourself to see how beautiful that place is.
That would be Valderama. Valderama is a golf course that gives me a similar feeling to Pebble Beach, when you walk around and see those trees and the different kind of golf holes and the history there. It’s a very very beautiful place to be.
That must be Pine Valley. I would also like to play Cypress Point. But Pine Valley is apparently the number one golf course in America, and that would be the number one course on my list.
Definitely Pebble Beach.

Again (laughs), I must say the two US Opens at Pebble Beach.
Hilton Head Harbour Town, which is always the week after the Masters.
Le Golf National, where we play the French Open.
I believe it is 17 at Sawgrass. There are no bail-outs. You just need to hit a good golf shot and it’s always a great show around the hole.
18 at Abu Dhabi. With all the stuff that happened there, all the feelings that I had there with my first win. And that hole just suits my eye and suits my golf shot very very well.

18 at St Andrews. If you’ve ever played 18 standing on that tee box seeing the clubhouse in the background, and seeing St Andrews on the right side! It’s also a fairly easy tee shot to hit. So, I would take 18 at St Andrews.
