Kingston Heath — A Masterpiece of Melbourne’s Sandbelt
Set in the pine forests of Slovakia‘s Zahorie region, Penati Golf Resort is home to two fantastic golf courses, including a Nicklaus design, as well as stylish villas, apartments, cottages, and plots of land for bespoke homes.
The resort covers 217 hectares of gorgeous scenery close to the mountains of the Little Carpathians and the pretty, historic town of Senica, less than an hours’ drive from the capital Bratislava. The resort features lake-side cottages, villas and apartments, and plots of land for homes to be built to the unique specifications of their future owners.
The resort has two 18-hole courses: the Legend Course and the Heritage Course. At both, golfers get to play along fairways lined with pine trees and sand dunes that are a natural feature of this region.
Legend Course: Rated by All Square as the best course in Slovakia, the Legend Course, designed by Jack Nickalus‘ design company Nicklaus Design, has been built to comply with USGA standards. Opened in 2012, the course features wide undulating fairways, a diversity of greens, challenging steep bunkers, and several tee boxes for golfers of all skill levels. It’s also home to Europe‘s longest hole, the 778-yard 15th which has a staggering 11 tee boxes. Equally memorable is the 18th, the narrowest hole on the course played to a superb island green close to the viewing terrace of the clubhouse.
Heritage Course: The Legend was joined by the Heritage Course in 2013, designed by British architect Jonathan Davison in tandem with Mick McShane, the visionary behind world-class venues such as Kingsbarnes in Scotland and The Castle Course at the Home of Golf, St Andrews. It’s a strategic layout with smartly placed bunkering and smaller greens than at the Legends which have been thoughtfully shaped to keep golfers on their toes. This is an excellent alternative to the Legends and together they offer players a fantastic golfing experience.
Villas & Apartments: Visitors can stay at modern villas next to the lake or at stylish apartments in a residential zone close to the golf courses. The villas have a capacity of 4 to 6 people, are modern with all the amenities and facilities you need, and have two storeys with a terrace and pier. The apartments offer accommodation capacity for 4 to 12 people, with all modern facilities and amenities, and diverse atmospheres depending on the specific design of the apartment.
Just five minutes from the golf courses, the residential zone is a green oasis with a huge lake lined with sunny beaches and secluded corners for the perfect relaxing getaway for couples, families and groups of friends. The area is split into two zones: the recreational cottage area and the family home area.
Recreational Cottage Area: This is an exclusive, enclosed private recreational zone, which only owners or renters of the cottages can enter. There are seven types of cottages of increasing sizes which are located by a private road with a large garden, a private pier and direct access to the lake. They are fully equipped and have all the latest modern amenities and facilities. Owners of the cottages and renters get access to a private beach with showers, which is located next to the Twentee Golf & Wine Bar, and use of the beach volleyball court.
Family Homes Area: Landowners in this area of the resort can design their own homes according to their own requirements. The lots, which start at 600 square metres, are fully equipped with utilities such as water, electricity, sewer and fibre optic cable. Homeowners here have access to a private beach with changing rooms and showers and the beach volleyball court.
With a direct view of the golf course, the Al Trivio restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers the best of organic Italian cuisine and an open kitchen where you can see the preparation of your food. It also offers a barbecue and grill service and if you want to enjoy a glass of good wine, a cocktail or coffee you can take advantage of the pleasant atmosphere of the bar, which is part of the restaurant. There’s also Little Al Trivio, a space designed exclusively for kids.
The golf resort is complemented by large lakes with swimming facilities, surrounding forests entwined with cycling and cross-country hiking trails, grass tennis courts and a playground, so that all family members can enjoy active leisure time all year round. There’s bicycles, rowboats, pedalos, and sports equipment for hire.
