Mallorca’s largest golf resort: Arabella
Minthis Hills offers everything you would expect of a luxury golf resort, set in the vineyards of Paphos in Cyprus and home to a fantastic Mackenzie & Ebert 18-hole golf course.
This five-star resort is located in the wine producing region of Paphos in west Cyprus, just 20km from Paphos International Airport. The setting is wonderful, in five million square metres of a beautiful protected nature reserve, where guests can hike nature trails past waterfalls and ancient shepherds’ caves, forests of juniper, wild olive and Cyprus cedars.
The resort prides itself on not being your typical hotel accommodation, but rather a more authentic, immersive and personal resort experience and a haven of tranquility and well-being.
Designed by legendary golf architect Donald Steel in 1994 and renovated by renowned course designers Mackenzie & Ebert, the golf course here is a beautiful and demanding layout that winds past a 12th-century monastery with stunning views of the Troodos Mountains. Just 300 metres from the main resort area, the designers have followed their philosophy of fitting golf courses into the natural local terrain.
The 18-hole championship course follows the natural undulations of the topography past ancient groves, hundreds of olive trees and fruit orchards. The signature hole is the stunning par-3 15th where the tee shot is played to the only island green in Cyprus.
At the golf club, you can take your game to the next level at the Minthis Golf Academy with one-on-one with a PGA professional. There’s different lessons and courses, a driving range, putting and chipping greens and a 3-hole academy course. The Clubhouse is also the perfect place to enjoy lunch in the restaurant sampling fresh, local cuisine with a soft drink, wine or a cold beer on the terrace.
The resort’s suites, villas and residences are set in the Cypriot landscape, framed by mountains and rolling countryside. The one and two bedroom suites are ideal for families and groups of friends, overlooking the mountains or the golf course, each with a private terrace veranda or courtyard garden. The two and three bedroom villas come with private courtyards and plunge pools with stunning panoramas. The three, four and five-bedroom detached residences come with private courtyards with mountain views and first-class facilities and five-star services.
Included in each stay and the room rate is daily breakfast, housekeeping, 24-hour concierge, in-room dining menus, access to the communal swimming pool and the destination wellness Spa.
The Minthis Spa blends the restorative power of nature with modern science to provide a unique multi-sensory experience using the abundance of herbs in the surrounding area. There’s an array of cutting-edge bespoke treatments as well as thermal suites, hydrotherapy and plunge pools, steam rooms and saunas.
There’s also an outdoor fitness area, indoor gym, tennis and padel courts, a multifunctional court covering all games from badminton to basketball, archery, an adventure playground and pavilion, as well as mountain biking and horse riding.
The resort’s Concierge and Lifestyle Team can arrange tailored activities both on and off the resort. Trips to nearby beaches and bays are on offer as well as access to a variety of water sports including snorkelling in the blue lagoon on the Akamas peninsula. Trips can also be arranged to nearby ancient UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You can also tour the local vineyards.
The dining at Minthis combines excellent food and drink in an atmospheric setting using hand- picked nuts and figs, honey and olives from the resort’s beehives and groves and fruit from the local orchards. The wonderful dishes created are paired with the best local Cypriot and international wines. As well as the Clubhouse which serves breakfast and lunch overlooking the golf course, there’s a cocktail bar and the main restaurant Amaracus, which will take your taste buds on a journey of the Mediterranean.
One of the most attractive elements of the resort is The Plateia. Inspired by traditional Mediterranean village squares, it’s the resort’s social centre with dining options and boutique stores including a wine emporium, art gallery and soon a home-concept store.
