Arrival airport: Faro Airport
Dom Pedro Vilamoura – Just 20km west of Faro Airport, this fine resort boasts five championship courses, elegant four-star rooms, a beautiful spa, outdoor and indoor swimming pools and it’s just a two-minute walk to the stunning Vilamoura Beach. The five courses here were designed by legendary golf architects and offer a challenge to different levels of players. All are well maintained with magnificent views.
The Victoria Course (currently undergoing renovation until February 2025) was designed by Arnold Palmer and hosts the Portugal Masters on the DP World Tour. The neighbouring Frank Pennink designed Old Course is a legendary venue in Portugal. Designed like a classic English course, it’s blessed with natural undulations and pine trees.
We then have the Millennium Course, opened in 2000 with nine brand new holes and a refurbished inward half. Close by is the Pinhal Course, updated by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1985 with gorgeous views extending over the excellent driving range and practice facilities, Finally, the Joseph Lee designed Laguna Course stands out here with many water hazards and a number of holes with a traditional links feel. Combined, this resort has something for every golfer.
Conrad Quinta do Lago – Just 20 minutes from the airport, this is five-star luxury along the dramatic Atlantic coast with one of Portugal‘s most decadent spas, Michelin-starred dining and world-class golf courses.
The three courses at Quinta do Lago all offer excellent quality golf. The South course, which has hosted the Portugal Open eight times, the Laranjal course, also a rolling and manicured world-class layout, while the newest addition, the North Course, was recently co-redesigned by former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. There’s also the McGinley Golf Academy.

Amendoeira Golf Resort – About an hour further west, the championship-level course at Amendoeira, designed by Sir Nick Faldo, has been likened to Sunningdale in England. It’s joined by the Christy O’Connor Jnr. Course and the only illuminated 9-hole par-3 course in Portugal. Amendoeira features elegant four-star self-catering apartments and villas with swimming pools.
Palmares Ocean Living & Golf – A further 20km west, next to the natural Bay of Lagos, this resort features the luxurious five-star Palmares Beach House Hotel just 700 metres from Meia Praia beach and three high-quality 9-hole linked golf courses designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. Sweeping down to the ocean, it’s incredibly beautiful.
Monte Rei Golf & Country Club – Just an hour Faro Airport, the golf course here is a signature design by Jack Nicklaus opened in 2007 with five lakes and stunning panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean and the Serra do Calderon mountain range. It’s close to sandy beaches and there’s Michelin-starred dining and you can stay at the beautiful Monte Rei Villas or the Clubhouse Residences with a range of one, two or three bedroom options.
Pine Cliffs Resort – Very close to Dom Pedro Vilamoura, this has an incredible 9-hole course that is perched on top of cliffs with tee shots over ravines and beautiful ocean and beach views. You’ll never forget playing at this stunningly dramatic course. The signature hole of this Martin Hawtree design is the par 3 sixth hole, the Devil’s Parlour, built over a ravine that requires a 215 yard tee shot over the ocean and cliffs to a narrow green.
You can stay at the Residences, the Ocean Suites or in the Pine Cliffs Hotel. All three are part of the Luxury Collection and share the same great five-star facilities. Enjoy golf, tennis and the luxurious spa at this clifftop resort, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean just half an hour from Faro International Airport.
