La Cala Golf Resort is an outstanding 4* venue situated in the peaceful area of Mijas on Spain’s Costa del Sol, just a 35 minute journey from Malaga Airport and a 20 minute drive from Marbella. Surrounded by the Sierra de Mijas National Park and the Mediterranean, it has a beautiful hotel and spa, three excellent golf courses, a golf academy and residential options.
La Cala was named the Best 4* Golf Resort in Spain at the 2019 International Travel Awards. The award came just a month after La Cala swept the board at the 2019 Europe Hotel Awards, winning categories for the best 4* hotel in both Spain and Europe.
La Cala has also established itself as a leading pre-season training destination for professional football clubs from all over the world. The resort has a football pitch which meets FIFA technical specifications, along with changing rooms, massage area, running path and fitness centre. Among the clubs to have stayed at the resort are Rangers FC, Everton, Steaua Bucharest and the Ivory Coast national team.

All three courses at La Cala were designed by acclaimed American architect Cabell Robinson and blend into the natural scenery of Andalucia. The par-72 America Course is highly enjoyable with elevated tees, cavernous carries and undulating fairways. Few bunkers make this a slightly easier driving course, though small raised greens demand precise club selection. At 6,571 yards, it’s the longest and probably toughest course at the resort. Like all the layouts at La Cala, it’s beautifully maintained.
The Asia Course is narrower, slightly shorter and has great variation. Water is present on two holes and the greens are tight, with half of them elevated requiring tough approach shots where club selection is vital. The course is home to four par-5’s, and with its emphasis on strategy it rivals the America Course as the most challenging at the resort.
The Europa Course is easier for the average golfer, with generous fairways, flatter terrain and slightly larger greens than at America and Asia. Notable for one main bridge and four smaller bridges across the River Ojen, which features on eight holes, cutting across three fairways. There are four tunnels for golf carts. Water hazards guard the greens at the 3rd and 14th which is a memorable par-3 challenge at 254 yards.
The La Cala Golf Academy comprises a 6-hole par-3 course, a Mizuno Performance Centre and TaylorMade Fitting Centre. it has a grass driving range as well as putting, chipping and bunker facilities. Resident golf professionals teach a wide variety of tuition programs.

The hotel is a tranquil retreat to get away from it all. Its 107 bedrooms are tastefully decorated in a traditional Andalucian style and provide a comfortable base for your golf holiday. Room amenities include air conditioning, LCD TV, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi, and a private balcony or terrace to soak up the Spanish sun, with views of the mountains and golf courses.
The La Cala Spa is set in a lovely location at the resort, surrounded by manicured green gardens, trees and a variety of indigenous plants. Facilities include a sauna, steam baths, aromatic showers and a tepidarium. There’s also hydrotherapy jacuzzis and an indoor swimming pool. Enjoy the indulgent treatments and relaxing massages.

The resort features four restaurants. La Terraza Restaurant serves a specialist Mediterranean menu; La Bodega Tapas and Grill offers Andalucian cuisine with an international twist and the Panoramic Bar & Restaurant serves up global dishes. The Clubhouse restaurant is known for its superb club sandwiches.

La Cala Resort also has exclusive residential options. Sun Valley consists of 23 properties with two and three bedrooms, designed in a contemporary style overlooking the Europe Course. Natura is an exclusive gated complex of 40 luxurious townhouses built in a modern style set in one of the most desirable locations within the resort with a large outdoor swimming pool.
Grand View is a luxurious project consisting of 60 two & three-bedrooms apartments and three-bedroom penthouses with spectacular solariums and two swimming pools. Horizon Golf is situated in the heart of the resort and is a gated community with two swimming pools and 55 spacious three-bedroom townhouses with a contemporary and open-concept design.
