What’s in Tyrrell Hatton’s winning golf bag?
Kimpton Los Monteros provides a five-star experience in the heart of the famous ‘Golf Mile’, just a few minutes from downtown Marbella on the Costa del Sol.
With over 20 golf courses close by, Kimpton Los Monteros is the perfect base for a luxury golf break. It’s the only five-star property in the ‘Golf Mile’ and guests can play at several golf courses in the area with preferential tee times. Santa Clara and Marbella Golf & Country Club are the closest, both located behind the property just a few minutes away, and the hotel provides a shuttle bus service to and from the golf clubs.
Santa Clara is a friendly all-rounder for golfers of all abilities on a golf vacation with gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside, wide fairways, and entertaining water carries. Marbella Golf & Country Club is a little more testing with tee shots over ravines, gullies and lakes, but it’s also blessed with scenic views of olive groves and the ocean. Other fabulous courses easily reachable from the resort include Los Naranjos Golf Club, Aloha Golf Club, La Quinta Golf & Country Club and Río Real Golf Marbella.
Kimpton Los Monteros lies just 400 metres from the beach and five minutes from the centre of Marbella. Just 15 minutes away is Puerto Banús, the playground of the rich and famous with its exclusive boutiques, bars and restaurants and marina filled with huge yachts.
The hotel has 195 rooms, including 60 suites, many with spacious balconies or terraces with sea views, spread throughout the resort. Options range from Essential and Premium Terrace, to Studio Suite Duplex Balcony and the Los Monteros and Marbella Suites which can sleep five people. All the rooms and suites have been thoughtfully designed with the warm and friendly colours and textures of the Costa del Sol.
The resort’s gastronomy is a particular highlight, under the helm of Michelin-starred chef José Carlos García. Jara restaurant is the main food establishment, open during the day and evening with indoor and outdoor spaces serving flavours of the Mediterranean. Costa Club, by the outdoor pool surrounded by lush gardens, serves cocktails and snacks, while Escondido is a gorgeous California-inspired rooftop bar with incredible views of the coastline.
There’s also the Azul Lounge Bar for coffee, juices, all-day light bites and wine after dinner, and the exclusive Beach Club by Dolce & Gabbana, which serves up superb cocktails and gastronomy with private sunbeds and cabanas right on the beachfront.
The spa at Kimpton Los Monteros has five rooms to indulge in the finest holistic facial and body treatments, a separate beauty area, a heated indoor pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath, a hammam and a footbath. There are also daily yoga classes, hardcourt and clay tennis courts, padel courts and a gym.
The Costa del Sol really is the ideal location for a golf break. Going south from Malaga, past Marbella to Sotogrande, the region is packed with luxury resorts and one of the best selections of championship golf courses in the world – and with over 300 days of sunshine each year, you can play year-round golf with temperatures between 15ºC and 20ºC in winter and 25ºC and 35ºC in summer.
