Ryder Cup star Thomas Pieters is bringing the European Tour back home to Belgium for the first time in almost two decades next month and All Square will be on site at Rinkven International Golf Club all week to share all the action from the Belgian Knockout with you.
Hosted by Thomas Pieters, who became the most successful European rookie in the history of the biennial contest at Hazeltine two years ago, the inaugural Belgian Knockout will capture the Ryder Cup spirit by featuring an innovative new head-to-head strokeplay knockout format. The tournament will begin with two rounds of strokeplay action. Come the weekend however the event will be transformed into a knockout showdown, with the leading 64 players doing battle over a series of 9-hole strokeplay contests.
Taking place from May 17-20, the Belgian Knockout looks set to be one of the most exciting stops on this year’s Tour. To ensure our users enjoy the ultimate experience we will be offering fans the opportunity to rub shoulders with the stars in a Beat the Pro contest. We will also be putting ourselves at the heart of the action with a booth in the tented village and offering plenty of interactive opportunities across the platform throughout the week.
Even better, up to six lucky winners will have the chance to win tickets to attend the event and cheer on local favourites Thomas Pieters, Nicolas Colsaerts and Thomas Detry, all of whom share their golfing journey via the All Square App. Keep your eyes peeled to our Facebook page for more information.
There’s never been a better time for the European Tour to make its long-awaited return to Belgium. Eighteen years after the Belgian Open was last staged at Royal Zoute in 2000, Pieters, Colsaerts and Detry have put the country firmly back on the golfing map.
No one more so than the tournament host who beyond his standout performance at the Ryder Cup, also finished in fourth at the Olympic Games in Rio.
The event, which looks set to build on the growing interest in the game in the country, is somewhat of a family affair for Pieters. His sister, brother, brother-in-law and sister-in-law are charged with organising the tournament. Meanwhile, the World No. 52 is also playing a hands-on role in the running of the event.
Founded in 1981, Rinkven International Golf Club is located just outside Antwerp and is one of Belgium’s leading golf destinations. It’s a club that prides itself on being welcome to golfers of all backgrounds and consequently looks set to be the ideal venue for the family-friendly European Tour event.
Be sure to come over to our stand at Rinkven to find out more about the latest comings and goings at All Square. Or simply drop by to say hello!
