Rory McIlroy saw off the challenge of Rasmus Hojgaard to win the season-ending DP World Tour Championship and clinch his sixth Race to Dubai title. Here’s his club set-up.
The world No.3 shot a three-under-par 69 in his final round to finish two strokes ahead of the Dane on 15 under at Jumeirah Golf Estates Earth Course in Dubai.
Rory McIlroy was confirmed as the Race to Dubai winner when his nearest challenger Thriston Lawrence finished way back on one under earlier in the day.
It was the third year on the bounce that the 35-year-old has topped the DP Tour’s end of season rankings – and his sixth title overall, matching Seve Ballesteros’ record.
Rory McIlroy is a TaylorMade staffer and uses a full bag of the brand’s clubs. In 2017, he signed a ten-year clubs, ball and bag deal with the manufacturer worth $100m.
The win in Dubai marked McIlroy’s fourth worldwide victory in 2024. The three other wins came at the Dubai Desert Classic, Zurich Classic and Wells Fargo Championship. At the start of the season, he added the Qi10 driver, the 2024 TP5x golf ball and the Spider Tour X putter to his bag.
McIlroy switched to the 2024 TP5x ball as he was looking for more control with his irons and wedges into the green, an aspect of the game he has been particularly working on. This ball is designed for less spin, lower launch and softer feel, exactly what he needed to make that improvement. The ball also provides extra speed, giving him even more distance.
At the top of his bag is the TaylorMade Qi10 driver. The brand launched the Qi10 drivers, fairways woods, hybrids and irons in January, designed to be their most advanced and forgiving clubs yet.
The Qi10 offers all-round performance with a lower CG projection and higher MOI than the brand’s Stealth 2. It has been engineered to help golfers optimize distance and enhance forgiveness.
McIlroy’s win at the DP World Tour Championship marked the 16th professional victory for the Spider family of putters in 2024.
