Pine Cliffs Resort in the Algarve is one of the leading five-star luxury and family resorts in Europe, home to one of the most dramatic 9-hole courses you could ever play.
The resort is around half an hour from Faro International Airport, nestled in pine trees overlooking a white sandy beach by the Atlantic Ocean. This haven of luxury and comfort is located in one of Europe’s best regions for golf with several classic Algarve courses nearby, making it the perfect choice for a golf trip.
Guests can stay at the Pine Cliffs Hotel, Pine Cliffs Residence or the Pine Cliffs Ocean Suites. All three are part of the Luxury Collection and share the same five-star facilities.
Pine Cliffs Hotel – The hotel sits within the 72-hectare resort and is traditionally styled. Guests can choose from five room categories across 217 spacious rooms and suites that are light and airy with terracotta-tiled floors and white walls. Each room has a balcony or terrace with wonderful views of the ocean or gardens and golf course.
Pine Cliffs Residence – The Residence is perfect for families, designed to offer generous private spaces in which families can relax. There’s 154 two- and three-bedroom luxury suites to choose from, with Comfort, Garden Access or Penthouse options. All feature comfortable lounge and dining areas, kitchenettes and an outdoor furnished terrace.
Ocean Suites – The suites are also built in a traditional Portuguese style and are a new addition to the resort enjoying a wonderful oceanfront setting. There’s 148 one- and two-bedroom apartments including flexible interconnecting options for family living, with spectacular views across the landscaped grounds or Atlantic Ocean. There’s also two Presidential Suites boasting stunning seafront locations.
The resort’s 9-hole course is perched 200 feet on top of cliffs with tee shots over ravines with beautiful ocean and beach views. You’ll never forget playing at this stunningly dramatic course. The signature hole of this beautiful pine-tree lined Martin Hawtree design is the par 3 sixth hole, the Devil’s Parlour, built over a ravine that requires a 215 yard tee shot over the ocean and cliffs to a narrow green.
The course as a whole is extremely entertaining for all levels with trees protecting the fairways from the ocean winds and it’s obviously not too long either. It’s also close to 18-hole courses in this excellent part of Europe for golfers such as Dom Pedro Vilamoura. Other high-quality courses in the area include Alamos, Morgado and Salgados.
The Pine Cliffs Golf Academy is equipped with the latest technology with Internationally Qualified PGA Professionals. There’s tuition service second to none for all level players and a dedicated short game practice area specifically designed to aid the beginner and improver. The indoor video swing analysis room is equipped with the V1 swing analysis software.
Jardim Colonial at the Pine Cliffs Hotel has an outside terrace and serves breakfast and a full American buffet, O’Grill at The Residence serves light Mediterranean meals, while The Clubhouse at the golf course serves food and drink on the terrace. Piri-Piri is one of the finest steak houses in the Algarve, while O’Pescador serves up fresh seafood, caught daily.
There’s also Zest, the resort’s new healthy venue, Mare which offers light meals and snacks by the sea, Corda Cafe in the heart of the resort which serves international dishes and drinks by the pool, and MIMO Algarve which offers a Chef’s Table, an espresso bar, gourmet shop and cooking school. Finally, there’s Yakuza Algarve by Olivier, one of the best Japanese restaurants in the region.
There’s six outdoor pools, watersports at the beach, two gyms, a football academy and pitches and floodlit tennis and padel courts at the Annabel Croft Tennis Academy. For younger guests there is the Junior Club for 8 to 13 year-olds and Porto Pirata Kid’s Club with its pirate ship and 7,000m2 children’s village for 6 month to 8 year olds. For those wanting to relax, there is direct access via a panoramic lift and boarded walkway to Falésia Beach.
One of the best aspects of the resort is the new state-of-the-art spa, Serenity The Art of Well Being – a superb 1,000m2 haven with an indigenous menu of treatments and holistic therapies. It has an indoor pool and outdoor area with jacuzzi.
