Apes Hill Resort on the Caribbean island of Barbados boasts a palm-fringed championship golf course, luxurious villas, nature trails and a host of 5-star amenities.
Located 1,000 feet above sea level across 470 acres of lush tropical forest, the resort enjoys breathtaking panoramic views of both the east and west coasts of the island. Just half an hour from the airport, the resort is set slightly inland just a short drive from the small coastal city of Holetown, with its picture postcard beaches, shops, bars and restaurants.
Whether you’re a golf fan, a nature enthusiast or just looking forward to an indulgent holiday, Apes Hill will not disappoint. Accommodation at this eco-friendly and sustainable resort consists of exquisite three- or four-bedroom villas, either elegant one-storey or expansive two-storey rentals with ensuite bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, outdoor living spaces and pools, along with access to the clubhouse and all its amenities.
Beyond the championship golf course and the luxurious villas and facilities, guests can enjoy the 12.5km of nature trails through tropical vegetation and towering fig trees in search of wild monkeys, or enjoy exclusive access to the nearby stunning beach and coral reefs of the turquoise Caribbean Sea. There are also two tennis courts and eight padel courts, yoga classes, and a state-of-the-art leisure and fitness centre where you can enjoy indulgent treatments.
In terms of dining, the casual al fresco 20th Hole serves an international menu of light bites, Noisy Cricket offers seasonal fare, shared plates, fresh seafood and meats for lunch and dinner, and there is private in-villa chef service available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The resort’s golf course designed by Ron Kirby offers challenging and spectacular golf and makes the most of the rich natural heritage that makes its location so special, with palm trees, undulating terrain and spectacular forest and ocean views from its elevated position. More skilled golfers will enjoy the 7,150-yard test from the back tees, while the front tees at just over 5,000 yards are more friendly to the beginner.
There’s also the Little Apes 9-hole par-3 course, a fun gem designed to entertain golfers of every skill level. With holes ranging from 95 to 145 yards, it offers a playful challenge set against the island’s stunning backdrop. As well as the 27 holes of golf, there’s the Performance and Teaching Center equipped with advanced swing analysis tools, putting and chipping greens, a driving range and PGA-certified expert golf coaches. Golf cart hire as well as premium hire clubs and golf shoes are available upon request.
Unique to the resort is the 19th Hole, a delightful bonus addition to the main 18-hole golf course. Similar to the famous 17th ‘Island Green’ hole at TPC Sawgrass, it’s the perfect chance to decide on a tied game or enjoy a nearest-the-pin challenge and is handily right by the clubhouse and the 20th Hole Restaurant.
