This week we have Sophia Popov who has taken time to answer some questions about her golfing life and her time on All Square. Sophia is a touring pro from Germany and a brand ambassador for Cobra/Puma.
I was 4 years old when I got my first plastic clubs that I chipped around with in our back yard. Around the same time my dad took me out to the course because my mom was off at other sporting events with my brothers. Even though I played 3-4 other sports, I always loved the challenge of hitting the golf ball further and further and so I stuck with golf.
When I was playing a men’s European Tour pro-am, the women’s changing room was temporarily part of the men’s locker room. Even though the men were not supposed to enter through our door, one pro decided to do anyways; Miguel Angel Jimenez. Needless to say, all women in the locker room were not quite dressed. The only thing that he said was, “Well, nothing I haven’t seen before” and walked out nonchalantly as though nothing happened. We on the other hand were scarred for life.
I would like to see more girls/women play the sport. For a long time golf was a very male-dominant sport, but in the last 10 years that dynamic has changed a little. It would be nice to one day have that Billy Jean King moment of golf in which women get paid close to what the men do if not the same.

It’s only for golfers!!! It is great to have a networking site that is only for golfers. That way you can interchange thoughts on golfers and golf courses without a personal interaction.
Being able to check in at a golf course, so people can see where you are currently playing. Therefore they can ask about a course and get recommendations.
