Costa Brava and Pirineu de Girona are in the enchanting region of Girona, Spain. Both locations offer marvellous natural beauty within an hour’s drive from the vibrant city of Barcelona. Visitors enjoy stunning lakes, rivers, beaches, vertiginous cliffs and mountainous massifs with spectacular views. Whether you take an unforgettable wine tour or hike through captivating botanical gardens, there are delights and sporting activities that everyone will enjoy.
Some of Spain’s, and indeed Europe’s top courses are in Costa Brava, thanks to a perfect combination of weather, surroundings and golf.
PGA Catalunya Resort is ideally located 50 minutes from Barcelona and 15 minutes from Girona, less than 2 hours away from major European capitals. The two 18-hole courses, the Stadium Course and the Tour Course, were inaugurated in 1999 and 2005 respectively. The Resort offers the best possible golf combination due to the perfect balance between the Stadium Course, designed for major international events and for the most demanding amateur players, and the Tour Course with its constant challenges and spectacular holes that will meet the expectations of all types of player.
Real Club de Golf El Prat is located in Terrassa, just outside Barcelona. Fly to Barcelona, which leaves a short 30-minute drive or fly into Girona, which is around an hour away. Designed by Greg Norman, Real Club de Golf El Prat offers 45 holes split into 4 different tracks, the Open Course, the Blue Course, the Yellow Course and the Pink Course. All four measure approximately 5,900 metres from the black tees and are suited for the advanced golfer as well as the recreational.
The Peralada Golf Club, with 18 holes and a total length of 5,990 metres, is an ideal course for holding competitions of all levels or simply enjoying a pleasant, relaxing day. It is considered suitable for all players because its design adapts to various levels of play. It is located in the Peralada Resort, which also includes the wine cellars, the Castle, the Casino and, in the golf course itself, the Hotel Golf Peralada (5*) with its own Wine Spa centre, the only one of its kind in Spain, which is based on therapy with derivatives of wine.
The Empordà Golf Resort, which is located in the most beautiful part of the Costa Brava, enjoys a privileged location just 90 minutes away from Barcelona, 30 minutes from Girona and 15 minutes from the best beaches on the Costa Brava.
American Robert von Hagge, one of the best architects in the world, designed the 36-hole golfing complex. The Forest and Links courses at Emporda Golf Resort are two outstanding 18-hole layouts. The Forest course is a classic woodland layout with a few links holes, whilst the Links is an inland track with many bunkers and water hazards.
The Club Golf d’Aro-Mas Nou is one of the oldest golf courses on the Costa Brava and located around 40 minutes from Girona and around 90 minutes from Barcelona. The Club is situated in “Les Gavarres” mountains, at 300 m above sea level with spectacular panoramic views of the famous Costa Brava. More than a thousand olive trees, pines, cork trees and two large artificial lakes, whose waters seem to merge into the sea, surround the course.
