Ryan Fox etched his name into golf history with a dramatic victory at the 2026 Open Championship, capturing the Claret Jug with a birdie on the 72nd hole at Royal Birkdale. The New Zealander became just the second player from New Zealand to win The Open and only the fourth Kiwi to claim a men’s major championship. After a brilliant third-round 62 vaulted him into contention, Fox held his nerve over the closing stretch, relying on clutch putting and precise ball-striking to secure the biggest win of his career.

Fox’s winning setup featured a predominantly Srixon and Cleveland bag, including the new Srixon ZXi RKT LS+ driver, Srixon ZXi RKT 3-wood, a Srixon ZXi5+ utility iron, ZXi5 and ZXi7 irons, and Cleveland RTZ Tour Rack wedges. The only club outside the Srixon/Cleveland family was his trusted Ping Anser 2.0 putter, which proved invaluable throughout the week. Fox also played the Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball, with his exceptional performance on the greens playing a decisive role in his maiden major triumph.

Already regarded as one of the longest hitters in professional golf, Ryan Fox had built an impressive résumé before his Open breakthrough. The son of former All Blacks legend Grant Fox, he enjoyed success on both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, collecting multiple victories and earning a reputation for fearless, aggressive golf. However, the 2026 Open Championship marked the defining moment of his career, transforming him from a consistent winner into a major champion and cementing his place among New Zealand’s greatest golfers.
