Austin Smotherman continued his remarkable late-season form with a dramatic victory at the 2026 Butterfield Bermuda Championship, claiming his second PGA Tour title in just three weeks. The 32-year-old American defeated Ireland’s Seamus Power in a sudden-death playoff at Port Royal Golf Course after both players finished tied at 16-under-par 197. The tournament was reduced to 54 holes due to strong winds, with the playoff eventually taking place on Monday, October 26. After three trips to the challenging par-3 16th hole, Smotherman secured victory with a par when Power made bogey, adding another impressive achievement to his breakthrough season.

The victory came just three weeks after Smotherman claimed his maiden PGA Tour title at the Bank of Utah Championship, marking an extraordinary turnaround in his professional career. Born in Loomis, California, Smotherman played collegiate golf at Southern Methodist University alongside Bryson DeChambeau before turning professional in 2016. He worked his way through PGA Tour Latinoamérica and the Korn Ferry Tour, collecting several victories before establishing himself on the PGA Tour. After years of persistence, his two victories in October 2026 confirmed his arrival among the tour’s emerging contenders.

Smotherman’s winning equipment setup featured an interesting combination of clubs from different manufacturers. At the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, he relied on a Titleist driver, TaylorMade 3-wood, TaylorMade hybrid and Titleist T100 irons. His short-game equipment included Titleist wedges, while an L.A.B. Golf VZN.1i putter and Titleist golf ball completed his winning bag. Let’s take a closer look at the clubs Austin Smotherman used to secure his second PGA Tour victory.
