Boutique Golf Hotels with Personality

Enjoy peace and quiet and maybe some romance at these adults-only golf resorts in Greece, Mallorca, Lanzarote and Mauritius.

Costa Navarino in the Greece Peloponnese is home to a collection of five-star hotels and world-class golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr and former Masters champions Jose Maria Olazabal and Bernhard Langer.
One of the hotels is the W Costa Navarino which is exclusively tailored to adults and young adults over 12 years old. Its stylish rooms, suites and beachfront villas are just a short walk to a long white sandy beach where’s there’s a beach club and water sports centre. There are tennis courts, a spa, a gym and five dining venues. Guests are also able to enjoy the Navarino Agora, an open marketplace with retail.

The four signature golf courses of Costa Navarino are within a radius of 13km. Langer’s The Dunes opened in 2010 and was joined a year later by Trent Jones Jnr’s The Bay. Today they are accompanied by Olazabal’s International Olympic Academy Golf Course and The Hills.

Luxury hotel group Sunlife has four resorts in Mauritius to choose from, each with privileged access to a Bernhard Langer golf course on its own tropical island. One of these properties is the four-star Ambre Resort & Spa.
This beautiful place to stay is exclusively for guests aged 16 and over. There are 297 rooms and suites right on the beach, nestled between a coral-reef lagoon and lush tropical gardens with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean. There are three restaurants, three bars, a nightclub, a spa, a gym, a main pool and an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. There’s also water sports and tennis and guests get unlimited green fees at Langer’s Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club.

This 18-hole championship course offers glorious views of the surrounding Indian Ocean. It’s a testing masterpiece but it’s incredibly scenic, snaking through a coral island refuge with volcanic rock formations, lakes and tropical plantations.

This stylish boutique hotel is an adults-only five-star haven located close to the town of Puerto del Carmen with its shops, bars and restaurants. It offers a selection of suites with private and furnished terraces including the loft-style Premium Suites that come with a private Jacuzzi, perfect for honeymooners and couples.
There are a la carte and buffet restaurants, a pool bar and chill-out bar, a Health and Beauty Center, a dynamic pool with a waterfall and water jets, a main pool, and the beach is only a short walk away.

Also just a few minutes from the hotel is one of the best 18-hole golf courses in the Canary Islands, Lanzarote Golf designed by Ron Kirby. It’s a links-style layout with gentle hills, set over a rugged volcanic landscape with views of the Atlantic Ocean and the island of Fuerteventura. There’s also a driving range, putting green, a short game green, equipment hire and the superb restaurant, La Honorable.

Just 20 minutes from Palma, this is a chic adults-only five-star hotel set between the coast and Golf Santa Ponsa. Just 300m from the beach, it’s perched on a cliff overlooking a pretty marina with access to shops, restaurants and bars.

The luxurious suites, some of which are swim-up, all come with sea views. Adriana Restaurant serves gourmet Mediterranean dishes with views of the marina, and the O Spa has state-of-the-art facilities and an indoor pool. For golfers, Mallorca boasts 24 golf courses, six of which are within a 20-km radius from the hotel. The closest are Golf Santa Ponsa and T Golf & Country Club Poniente.

Golf Santa Ponsa has 11 lakes, over 40 bunkers and beautiful views throughout. It was the second course on the island to open and it has hosted the Balearic Open on the European Tour on six occasions. T Golf Palma Puntiro opened in 2006, the first in Mallorca from the Nicklaus Design stable. Filled with pine, olive and carob trees, there are two huge lakes which provide the main feature at several holes. It’s a peaceful round with a notable absence of buildings.
