Matthieu Azzolin is the manager at Golf du Mont d’Arbois, one of the oldest stylized Alpine golf courses. He tells us about his passion for the game and why he believes All Square can connect the dots in the golf industry.
1. ABOUT GOLF
To start, can you tell us how you first got into golf?
I got into golf when I was a teenager and looking for a summer job. I was hired as assistant to the greenkeeper at Golf du Mont d’Arbois and was hooked straight away. I guess you could say it was love at the first sight!
What would make golf more fun?
Nothing! Isn’t golf fun enough?
Tell us about your funniest golf experience?
I hit a hole in one a couple of years ago on the 2nd hole at Mont d’Arbois with a 5 iron, that was really fun!
Your top 3 golfing destinations?
I love Scotland, the Home of Golf, the South West of France, which offers so many great golf courses and the United States, which is a golfer’s paradise!
Your 3 favorite golf courses?
Golf du Mont d’Arbois, Saint Andrews – The Old Course and Golf Club de Genève
Could you tell us more about your new role at Golf du Mont d’Arbois?
I joined the resort a couple months ago as the new Golf Manager. As the manager, I face different challenges but the main objectives are to drive incremental rounds and develop memberships. Our club is only one hour away from Switzerland and Italy so bringing an international audience to the resort is also important. Another important aspect of my role here at Golf du Mont d’Arbois is to strengthen our online presence and improve our communication with golfers, making All Square the perfect tool.
2. ABOUT ALL SQUARE
How did you first discover All Square?
Arthur de Rivoire, one of the founders, is a friend of mine.
Complete the sentence: What I like the most about All Square is …
I believe a lot in niche communities like All Square, especially with mainstream social media like Facebook and Twitter having become too intrusive and noisy. Golf is a social game; I see a big opportunity for All Square to connect all the dots in the golf market.
Your favorite feature on All Square?
The Dashboard for businesses is a tremendous tool that allows us to connect our brand with golfers and reach out to a highly targeted audience of potential clients! The interface is sleek and very easy to use.
3. RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS
Hitting long drives or sinking long putts?
Long drives
Having the round of your life or a hole-in-one?
Hole-in-one
Early morning or late afternoon tee time?
Both, I love the lights and the calm in each of these moments.
The coolest player on Tour?
I don’t know if he is cool anymore, but I am a big Tiger fan; Henrik and his 3 wood
Dream fourball?
My best friends even if they are bad at golf.
