Camiral Golf & Wellness, less than an hour from Barcelona, is home to two championship golf courses, the five-star Hotel Camiral, the four-star Lavida Hotel and a state-of-the-art wellness centre. Both hotels offer contemporary and tasteful low-rise elegance along with five superb dining options and wine from the resort’s own vineyard.

The Stadium and Tour courses here are both woodland layouts designed by Angel Gallardo with manicured rolling fairways framed by the Pyrenees mountains. Stadium hosted the Spanish Open in 2000, 2009 and 2014, while the easier Tour is just as beautiful, adorned with pine trees and lakes. The PGA Academy offers a complete golf learning experience, while the Golf Hub provides state-of-the-art practice facilities.

Penina Hotel & Golf Resort is renowned as the home of golf in the Algarve with three superb courses including the region’s first ever 18-hole layout. This five-star haven is set between the village of Portimao and the historic town of Lagos and offers nearly 200 luxurious rooms, the Algarve’s largest private outdoor pool, a private beach and six restaurants.

It’s the only resort in Portugal to offer three golf courses, one of which is the legendary Sir Henry Cotton Championship Course which has hosted ten Portuguese Opens. The resort is also home the Resort Course and the Academy Course, both 9-hole courses, and the Penina Golf Academy with tuition from PGA professionals.

BlackSeaRama, set on top of cliffs along the Black Sea Coast, is home to a stunning Gary Player-designed 18-hole championship course. The five-star Boutique Hotel here has large rooms with spacious living areas and gorgeous sea views, along with two pools, a wellness centre, tennis courts, four restaurants and transfers to several nearby beaches.

Set 200 metres above the sea, Player’s course is a classic links layout with incredible views, plentiful green-side bunkering and three beautiful lakes. The clubhouse has superb facilities, a bar and restaurant with a terrace that extends over the sea, while the golf academy has a driving range, practice greens and learning studios.

Cabot Bordeaux is a premier lifestyle resort for golf and wine enthusiasts with two 18-hole courses nestled in the vineyards of Medoc in southwest France. There are 79 rooms and suites with views of the golf courses, a restaurant and bar with a terrace, wines from the local vineyards and an opulent spa with a heated indoor pool.

Both golf courses are laid across 150 hectares of gorgeous Bordeaux countryside. The Chateaux championship course, designed by Bill Coore, hosted the French Open in 1999 and is a pretty Scottish links-style layout, while Vignes, designed by Rod Whitman, is embedded in the local landscape of heather and pines tree. The resort also has a golf academy and TaylorMade fitting room.

The K Club, just 30 minutes from Dublin, boasts five-star accommodation set in a 19th-century mansion, two lodges and two Arnold Palmer 18-hole golf courses in a 550-acre parkland estate. The River Liffey runs through the grounds and there’s two restaurants, afternoon tea, a bar with a terrace and a cocktail bar. The luxurious spa’s incredible facilities include an indoor pool.

The North Course hosted Europe’s Ryder Cup win in 2006 and has held 11 European Opens and the 2016 Irish Open. The South Course has also held the European Open in the recent past and is equally beautiful and well-maintained. There’s also a driving range, golf tuition and other excellent practice facilities.

La Finca Resort is a five-star paradise for golfers on the Costa Blanca with an 18-hole golf course. There are 120 modern rooms offering views of the course, gardens, a swimming pool, the Escotera Mountains and coastline, a spa, tennis and padel courts and a gym. There are also four high-quality restaurants and a wine bar.

The La Finca Golf Course is a superb inland-links style, tournament-ready layout created by Pepe Gancedo in 2002. Set between mountains and the coastline, the spectacular views will follow you throughout your round. There’s great variety with Biarritz and island greens, waterfalls, and trees and bunkers in the middle of fairways.

Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity in the south of Gran Canaria has over 300 five-star rooms and suites with a terrace or balcony offering mountain or golf course views. The hotel boasts the Be Aloe Wellness Centre, a gym, seven pools, and a free shuttle to the nearby Meloneras Beach. There are also three restaurants and three bars including a pool bar.

Salobre’s on-site Old Course opened in 1999 and hosted the Spanish PGA in 2006. It has since been upgraded by David Williams into a desert-style 18-hole championship course adorned with palms and elevated tees. Salobre’s cliff-top New Course is one of the most unique and challenging 9-hole courses in the Canary Islands, carved into dramatic volcanic surroundings.

Long Beach is a chic five-star hotel fringing the stunning beach at Belle Mare on the east coast of Mauritius. All 255 rooms and suites have access to their own beach, garden, or pool with a balcony or terrace. There’s four pools, a Piazza area, five restaurants, two bars, a spa, gym, kids club and water sports.

Guests enjoy access to Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club and Anahita Golf Club. Bernhard Langer’s Ile aux Cerfs is set on its own tropical island and provides glorious views of the Indian Ocean. Ernie Els’ Anahita Golf Club is another 18-hole championship course and has six wonderful oceanfront holes.
