Blade VS Cavity Back Irons: Which One is Right for You?
During this week’s interview we had a nice chat with Andrew Mollerud, a passionate golfer from the United States who is the head golf professional at ChampionsGate Golf Club in Orlando.
1. ABOUT GOLF
To start, can you tell us how you first got into golf?
I grew up with a family of die-hard golfers. My father had a club in my hands at 3 years old and going to camps by age 4. Needless to say I was hooked.
What would make golf more fun?
Finding a way to make it faster. 4 hours is a fair investment, and I think more people would play more if it could be done quicker. Golf is undergoing a lot of changes, and us as golf course operators need to be willing to change with the game. I get the most enjoyment when I am on the course with my family, so the personal answer is more rounds of golf with my wife and kids!
Your funniest golf experience?
Playing college golf for UWEC. I was trying to pull off a shot from a uphill lie on the edge of a pond…needless to say I lost my balance and ended up taking an unplanned swim. As a side note I put it on the green and birdied the hole.
Your top 3 golf destinations?
My top 3 golf destinations are: Saint Andrews, Pebble Beach and Palm Springs, CA. I love desert golf.
2. ABOUT ALL SQUARE
How did you first discover All Square?
Of all things, one of my members came in and showed me this new app he had found. After he showed me the app, I had to know more. I was floored by what it offered.
Complete the sentence: What I like the most about All Square is …
…we have a social media site for golfers and courses made by golfers.
Your favorite feature on All Square?
The ease of constant contact with my members and the golfing public.
Why did you decide to use All Square at ChampionsGate?
To us at ChampionsGate this is the perfect hub for our social media. We have linked it with our Facebook and Twitter accounts, so from a man power standpoint I can make 1 post and push it out to all outlets at once. It provides a great platform for us to stay fresh in the local golfers minds and keep them informed of what is going on around the club.
3. RAPID FIRE QUESTIONS
Hitting long drives or sinking long putts?
Sinking long putts.
Having the round of your life or a hole-in-one?
I have my hole-in-one and made an albatross two times…still waiting for the round of my life.
Early morning or late afternoon tee off?
I prefer early morning rounds.
The coolest player on Tour?
Graeme McDowell. I love his style.
