TGL Golf League: The Latest Updates and What’s Ahead

Matthieu Caron, our new intern at All Square, started playing golf at just four years old and was a member of the French Junior National Team. Now a student at IESEG School of Management in France, he’s about to graduate with a master’s degree in Finance. His lowest score is 65 and once he graduates he plans to turn pro.
How did you first get into golf?
I started golf when I was 4 years old. My father, a former motocross pilot, was looking for a less dangerous sport to do with our family and he fell in love with golf. The first years I wasn’t really interested in it and I also played soccer and tennis which I liked more. However, as soon as I had the opportunity to start competing at the age of 8-9, my opinion about the sport changed completely and I became addicted to it.
What is the best thing about playing golf?
What I really like in golf is the fact that you are able to spend time with your friends in a peaceful environment. It’s a place where I can disconnect myself from everything else and completely enjoy what I’m doing, free my mind. Of course, there is also the competition side that motivates me and the fact that there is always room for improvement.
First course you ever played?
Golf de Bondues, my hometown golf course.
Name three courses you’d love to play but haven’t yet?

Augusta National Golf Club, Cape Kidnappers Golf Course, and Prairie Dunes Country Club.
Your favourite golf destination and why?
Florida, there are so many great golf courses there and the weather is always perfect.
The most scenic course you have played?
Big Horn Golf club in Palm Desert, California. The course was in perfect shape and I really liked the desert setting with the mountains around us.
The #1 course on your bucket list?
Augusta National Golf Club
Tell us about your dream career in golf.
My dream career in golf would be to become a multiple Major and PGA Tour winner.
Your favourite pro on tour and why?
My favourite pro on tour is unquestionably Tiger Woods. He is the one I watched playing while growing up and his dominance on others was such that you have to respect him. He also changed the way golf was seen by becoming a true and powerful athlete.
Otherwise, I am a huge fan of the young generation like Collin Morikawa and Victor Hovland as I can relate to them. Knowing that you have played in the same tournaments as PGA Tour or European Tour winners makes you feel great.
What golf clubs do you use?
My whole bag is Titleist. I currently have a 917 driver and 3 woods, AP2 irons, Vokey wedges, and a Scotty Cameron putter. However, I will change my clubs in the upcoming month for the newest Titleist clubs: TSi3 driver and woods, T100 irons, and Vokey wedges.
Hitting long drives or sinking long putts?
Hitting long drives.
If you could win a major which one would it be?
The Masters, pretty sure green would look good on me.
Favourite golf equipment brand?
Titleist. I have been playing with their clubs ever since I was 13. They make efficient and good looking golf clubs.
Favourite golf clothing brand?
Ralph Lauren/RLX
Your dream fourball?
Tiger Woods, Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus and me.
Your lowest score?

I shot 65 three times in my career. The first time was when I was 14 during the 3rd round of Coupe Frayssineau-Mouchy at Golf de Fontainebleau. Thanks to this card, I was leading the biggest French amateur tournament entering the last round. My other 65s were during the 2015 Grand Prix de Lille Metropole. I shot two 65s in a row to win the tournament by nine shots. I also beat the course record. It was a good moment as my twin sister won in the girl category and also broke the girl’s course record.
What makes All Square stand out from other websites and apps in golf?
All Square is the only platform I know that is entirely dedicated to golf. When I use the platform, I know that I will see content that matters to me. With All Square, I can find everything I need about my passion at the same place.
What is your favourite feature on All Square?
One of my favourite features on All Square is the map that allows you to show every place in the world where you have played golf. The explore feature is also very helpful when you want to find the best courses around to play.
How did you first discover All Square?
I met Patrick Rahme, All Square CEO, during a practice round last summer. I had already heard of All Square before, but I never really looked into it. He presented me with the app and walked me through it. At the end of the round, I had uploaded it on my phone and was very impressed by both the concept and how it was built. Ever since, I use All Square almost every day to check the latest news about golf.
Complete the sentence: What I like the most about All Square is… that golfers finally have a dedicated place to share their experiences and discuss their passion: golf.
