Sami Välimäki’s Breakthrough WITB at The RSM Classic

Finland’s rising star Sami Välimäki delivered a statement win at The RSM Classic, becoming the first Finnish player to triumph on the PGA Tour. His composed final-round 66 at Sea Island sealed a 23-under finish and showcased a player whose confidence is clearly catching up with his talent. While his victory was fueled by sharp iron play and a rock-steady short game, Välimäki’s bag blended trusted long-game tools with a putter he relied on repeatedly under pressure. It was a setup built for control, consistency, and the bold shot-making that defined his week.

Välimäki’s charge included stretches of pure momentum, highlighted by key birdie runs and poised recoveries when the tournament tightened. One of the defining moments came when he opted for the putter from off the green to save a critical par late in the round — proof of his growing maturity and confidence on the biggest stage. His composure in the closing holes made the victory feel not just deserved, but inevitable.

A former top-10 amateur who helped Finland win the European Amateur Team Championship, he first drew international attention with his European Tour win at the 2020 Oman Open.
