In the first of our new feature on the All Square Blog, we are going to look at the upcoming events on tour. It’s that slower time of year when the new season is beginning but The Masters (121 days away, not that anyone is counting) seems so distant. Rest assured, however, that some of the best in the sport are still out there and we will not let you miss it!
This week on the European Tour we see the UBS Hong Kong Open at The Hong Kong Golf Club- Fanling. The composite course used this week truly celebrates the traditions of golf. With three courses to choose from the tournament organisers create a great track for the tour pros every year.
The field includes defending champion Justin Rose, Patrick Reed, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Ian Poulter and Miguel Angel Jimenez. We also have many All Square users out this week including: Gregory Havret, Daniel Im, Mathieu Pavon, Joel Stalter and Thomas Detry.
At All Square we are all for the growing popularity of team golf. The PGA Tour has a team event this week, The Franklin Templeton Shoutout at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, FL.
Greg Norman is the host to this week’s tournament and the field is strong. Jason Dufner and Brandt Snedeker looking to defend their crown. This won’t be easy though with teams like Harris English/Matt Kuchar, Smylie Kaufman/Justin Thomas, Charley Hoffman/Billy Horschel, Luke Donald/Russell Knox and Bryson DeChambeau/Lexi Thompson (yes you read that correctly) it is sure to be great.
The format for this three-round event is scramble on day one, modified alternate shot (each player drives, best drive is selected and the other player starts the alternate shot from there) and better ball in the final round. Tiburon Golf Club is a fantastic course and will be a great venue for this as always!
The Emirates Golf Club is looking as resplendent as ever! There is a really strong field this week including Catriona Matthew, Suzann Pettersen and Charley Hull.
The Solheim Cup is approaching, so Europe’s best are working to gain points and get onto Annika Sorenstam’s team. This week’s event is a chance to gain big points!
There is also an All Square member out in Dubai this week. We wish Valentine Derrey all the best!
Unfortunately, as this was being written we got news of the death of a caddy at the event. We send our condolences to the family and friends of the caddy, our thoughts are with you at this time.
