The Best Golf Courses in Bordeaux, France
If you love wine and enjoy nothing more than a round or two of golf under the Spanish sunshine, then look no further than Golf Club Peralada. Set in the golfing mecca that is the Costa Brava this beautiful Catalonian resort is home to one of the best golf courses in the region. Golf may be at the heart of the resort, but wine is its very essence. Wine connoisseurs will be spoilt for choice at the tranquil Mediterranean escape, which is situated in one of Spain’s premier wine growing regions.
Wine tastings, vineyard tours and the opportunity to relax at Peralada’s one-of-a-kind wine spa, are all available to guests, providing the perfect accompaniment to your time on the course.
Playing at Golf Club Peralada is more than just a round of golf. It’s about enjoying a unique experience in one of the best golf courses on the Costa Brava. The calibre of the course is demonstrated by the number of high-level events that have been staged at the venue. The 1995 Catalonia Open, and the Senior PGA Qualifying School, just to name a few.
The beautiful par-71 course is a pleasure to play. Carving its way through natural woodland, generous gardens surround the layout, with lake areas and water hazards coming into play throughout. Measuring 6071 meters, it is not an overly long course, and as a result is suitable for all levels of player.
The newly renovated Hotel Peralada is a modern property which effortless infuses traditional Catalonian architecture and design. Imagine opening the windows and enjoying the magnificent views of the golf course or the Albera mountain range. That is exactly what is on offer in Hotel Peralada’s 62 exquisitely decorated rooms.
Situated in Catalonia’s major wine growing district, the lush Alt (Upper) Emporda, guests will find themselves perfectly situated to enjoy this enchanting region. Part of Peralada’s wine-growing estate, visitors will discover the Dalí Museum only a stone’s throw from the resort. Head a little further afield and a coastline littered with beautiful beaches is just waiting to be explored.
With so much to enjoy in the resort itself, golfers may find themselves spoilt for choice. Top of all visitor’s agenda should be a trip to the spa. The tranquil facility features many of the treatments and facilities synonymous with a luxury spa facility but with a twist. Guest can elect to use therapeutic wine-based products.
Other facilities on offer include two exceptional restaurants, and a casino, housed in a nearby 14th century castle.
This Catalonian retreat is heaven for those you who enjoy a glass, or two, of wine after their round of golf. Encircled by vineyards, the resort places great emphasis on the region’s wine-making traditions. As well as a ‘wine spa’, golfers can relax at the wine bar on the terrace, which overlooks the course. Taking advantage of the exceptional climate that the Empordà offers, locals have been producing wine at Peralada since the 14th century. Today this tradition continues, and guests will discover a countryside enveloped in beautiful vineyards.
The hotel can arrange wine tastings, as well as visits to the nearby wineries. Perelada’s Cellar Store also houses some of the finest wines from across the globe.
No visit, however, would be complete without a visit to Castell Peralada Restaurant.
Situated five minutes from the resort, Castell Peralada Restaurant is located in a medieval castle and has been awarded a Michelin star. Truly exceptional cuisine matches the restaurant’s jaw-dropping location. Fine dining at its finest, expect to find mouth-watering takes on local favorites.
The hotel’s other restaurant, L’Olivera, is undoubtedly Castell Peralada’s equal when it comes to cuisine, with a rich menu packed with succulent dishes. Unsurprisingly there is also an excellent choice of wines.
Meanwhile, the Wine Bar also couples as an open, bright space, ideal for breakfasts, snacks and lunches for golf enthusiasts.
