Teeing Off Through Germany: All Square’s Top 10 Golf Courses

Mauritius, the dazzling island gem that appears to be rising out of scintillating Indian Ocean waters, is a truly spectacular holiday destination for everyone; from honeymooners and adventurers to fun-loving families, it’s quite literally a dream location for a sunshine-filled vacation.
But more than sensational island surrounds, gastronomic experiences, luxury hotels and an array of adventures to be embraced (both on land and in the sea), discerning guests that enjoy the skilful game of golf can also indulge in a round (or two) on some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. In fact, for golf enthusiasts staying at any of the four sublime Sun Resorts, exceptional golfing experiences are practically guaranteed thanks to Sun Resorts’ partnership with three of the best golf courses in Mauritius, namely Anahita, the iconic Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club and Tamarina Golf Club.
Enjoying a round on one of the golf courses in Mauritius is always a good idea, but the experience is definitely enhanced by a little bit of healthy competition, much like the type you can find at the Sugar Beach Amateurs Open which will take place in May.
Eager to be a part of this incredible competition? Here’s what you need to know:
This fantastic competition, which will take place between the 10 May and 13 May 2019 on the gorgeous Tamarina Golf Club (designed by Rodney Wright and situated on the dreamlike west coast of Mauritius, near Rampart Mountain and Tamarin Bay) is open to any and all amateur golf players from around the world.

The competition will take place over two days, which will include a total of 36 holes played (in an Individual Stableford game format, with 18 holes played a day) and a practice round. There will also be a special prize-giving ceremony accompanied by a lavish lunch—where drinks are included and guests will be treated to a sublime menu, carefully created for the event itself, hosted by the stunning beachside restaurant Citronella. This phenomenal event promises to be one of the highlights of the open.
If you are interested in partaking in this excellent competition, we highly recommend adding on a few days to your trip—there’s so much to see, do and explore in Mauritius that it certainly warrants some extra time spent on the magical island. Some of the highlights include a trip to the sacred lake, Ganga Talao, time spent exploring the bustling capital city of Port Louis (and trying some of the excellent local street food), catamaran cruises and unforgettable excursions both on land and in the tropical Indian Ocean waters.

The hotel you choose to stay at during a holiday in paradise can make or break your entire experience. In this case, however, it’s sure to make it. Participants in the Sugar Beach Amateurs Open will be treated to a sublime stay at the five-star Sugar Beach, the plantation-style resort where luxury modern comforts and old-world sophistication meet. This exceptional hotel has an array of high-end facilities, stellar dining outlets and bars—including their novel Gov’s Flowers lounge and the new, chic Buddha-Bar Beach (which apart from the extraordinary cocktail and food offerings, provides an unbeatable location from which to watch the sunset) – a range of complimentary non-motorised water sports and much more. You can rest assured that you will have fabulous ways to spend your downtime both during the competition and the days booked on either side of it.
Guests at Sugar Beach are also afforded access to the exceptional dining outlets at Sugar Beach’s sister resort, La Pirogue, next door (including their newly introduced wine bar) which means that there’s no limit on sublime culinary options when staying at Sugar Beach. What’s more, is Sugar Beach is home to an incredible luxury spa – their very own Cinq Mondes Spa and Wellness Centre which offers a plethora of exceptional spa treatments carried out by highly-skilled therapists. It’s the perfect place for some post-game pampering.
Any stay at Sugar Beach is sure to leave guests feeling like VIPs, but being a part of this competition sets you up for an array of additional treats and surprises. From welcome packs and snacks on the course to a fabulous prize-giving lunch and a memorable transfer through the Domaine de Wolmar, with its astounding savannah-like surrounds and variety of wild animals, where you might stand the chance to see wild pigs, monkeys and even deer.
It’s a fabulous excuse for a trip to Mauritius

Mauritius is a superb holiday destination for a myriad of travellers and if you have been putting off a trip to this oasis (for whatever reason), the Sugar Beach Amateurs Open should provide you with the ultimate excuse for an island trip for the whole family (there are even different age categories for the open, including those for children). As we mentioned above, you can extend your stay to explore more of the island or to experience a few of the other world-class golf courses, and revel in an unforgettable holiday along the incredible sunset coast of Mauritius.
The deadline for registrations is in April

Keep in mind that the deadline for registrations is on Sunday 14 April 2019 at 12:00. If you would like to find out more information or secure your place, email sungolf@sunresorts.mu.
