Situated on the outskirts of Pilansberg National Park north of Johannesburg, Sun City Golf is one of South Africa‘s premier resorts with two brilliant Gary Player-designed golf courses, first-class accommodation and a host of thrilling activities.

Sun City is home to two 18-hole, par 72 golf courses designed by South African golfing legend Gary Player. The Gary Player Country Club, ranked by All Square as South Africa’s third best course and the first to be constructed to USGA specifications, hosts the Nedbank Golf Challenge, one of the Rolex Series events on the European Tour and the penultimate event on the Race to Dubai.
This elegant club also provides a social hub for players and spectators alike. Its restaurant overlooks the rolling greens, the pro shop is well stocked and there’s a modern gym and luxurious spa.
Player also designed The Lost City Course, superbly draped across parkland with mountain views. It features a huge amount of water, including the water hazard on the 13th hole which is home to Nile crocodiles! The course has a state-of-the-art clubhouse, a restaurant, pro shop, a driving range and putting green.
Sun City’s accommodation options include the three-star Cabanas hotel, the four-star Soho hotel, the five-star Cascades hotel and the five-star Palace of the Lost City, an incredibly stylish hotel with 338 luxurious rooms and suites.
Cabanas
The resort’s most affordable hotel focuses on family fun. It’s informal and features childcare facilities in the main restaurant plus easy access to the thrills of Waterworld and the children’s play centre at Kamp Kwena. Hop on the Sun City resort shuttle to reach the Entertainment Centre’s movie theatres, children’s gaming arcade and family-friendly restaurants.
Soho
This glamorous spot is Sun City’s original hotel and centre point to the resort. It overlooks the rolling greens of the Gary Player Country Club and offers discerning guests the perfect setting for soaking up the sun around an inviting swimming pool. You can also pamper yourself at the Gary Player Health Spa. The hotel also hosts a selection of great restaurants.
Cascades

The Cascades tiered silhouette rises out of its tropical surroundings like an Aztec temple. All rooms enjoy views over the landscaped gardens or the series of pools set in between cascading waterways. There’s a selection of excellent restaurants, three swimming pools, including one for children, and a private beach and tanning island. It’s only a quick stroll to the Gary Player Country Club and the Entertainment Centre.
Palace of the Lost City

This grand hotel boasts graceful frescoes, mosaics and fountains and is surrounded by landscaped jungle and tumbling waterfalls. It has great views over the Lost City Golf Course, the magnificent Grand Pool and the Valley of the Waves. The main dining area overlooks the pool, while streams and sculpture-lined walkways lead between the hotel’s gardens, past the golf course and down to the waterpark. The nearby idyllic beach cove is straight out of a tropical island postcard.
Sun City is home to two water theme parks. Valley of Waves is the biggest and has huge water slides, a palm-fringed beach and a powerful wave machine. The resort’s lake is home to Waterworld, where the attractions include something for the whole family, from bumper boats, water and jet skiing, and parasailing.

Sun City is not far from two of South Africa’s best malaria-free wildlife reserves, the Pilanesberg National Park and the Madikwe Game Reserve. Both are Big-5 reserves and are highly recommended for family safaris. There are also many other activities on offer, from clay-pigeon shooting and horse riding to adrenaline-fuelled zip lining.

You can also try your luck at the slot machines, roulette and card tables of the resort’s casinos. There’s the Palace of the Lost City’s exclusive casino, and the casinos at the Soho Hotel.
Sun City offers show-stopping entertainment for the whole family, day and night, including the latest movies, live shows and high-end shopping. Situated in the Entertainment Centre, the Sun City Superbowl is regarded as one the finest concert venues in South Africa. The Moviezone shows the latest releases, there’s live shows at the Sun City Theatre, and the Silhouette Nightclub provides late night thrills.
