Discover the Charm of Hamilton Island Golf Club and the Whitsundays

The French five-star resort Terre Blanche, one of Europe‘s most prestigious destinations for golf and gastronomy, has announced its reopening and new Michelin-starred head chef.
The resort, set among the rolling hills and vineyards of Provence, less than an hour from Nice and the stunning coastline of the Cote d’Azur, is home to two championship level golf courses and a state-of-the-art golf academy, as well as luxurious suites and villas, an award-winning spa and Michelin-starred dining.
Following restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the resort is now fully reopened on June 17.

The resort has also appointed Christophe Schmitt as the new Chef des Cuisines, who will take over the reins at the resort’s restaurants including the Michelin-starred ‘Le Faventia’. Chef Schmitt built his reputation at Michelin level establishments including Le Diane in Paris where he was awarded a Michelin star.
Like Provence itself, Terre Blanche is a food lovers’ paradise. There is something for everyone with light lunches at Les Caroubiers with a view over the golf courses, Michelin-starred dining on the terrace at Le Faventia overlooking the local hills, the stylish Gaudina with its brasserie ambiance, and poolside meals at Le Tousco. Le Pitchoun caters just for children and, in summer, Le Patio and terrasses restaurants are perfect to enjoy meals outdoor.

At the resort, The Albatross Golf Performance Centre is a world-class golf training facility. It includes a driving range, which is open seven days a week with 64 bays on two levels, half of which are undercover and flood-lit, and the Biomecaswing Centre where every aspect of your swing can be analyzed using biomechanics and the latest video technology. There’s also the TaylorMade Performance Centre, where certified specialists offer the latest TaylorMade equipment made to measure thanks to Trackman technology, club testing, calibration and repair of your golf clubs. The new Under Armour technical collections are also available in the proshop.
The centre is also home to the Terre Blanche Golf Academy. In partnership with The French Golf Federation (ffgolf), it’s open throughout the year and offers a wide range of courses relating to every aspect of the game for players of all ages, from beginners to professionals.
And in Spring this year, Terre Blanche opened a new short game practice and development area built in collaboration with ffgolf – only the second one of its kind in Europe after Golf National near Paris opened a similar facility in 2020. This area lets players practice within 50 meters of a green, with Ecobunkers built by the company Eponyme.

The resort is home to two courses, Le Château and Le Riou, both woven seamlessly into the natural Provencal terrain. Le Château is a true test of golf and in immaculate condition as you would expect from a championship level venue. The 18th hole in particular provides glorious views of the local hills, vineyards and villages. Le Riou is less demanding and more playable for a wider range of handicaps. Exclusively reserved for hotel residents, club members and their guests, it’s a beautiful layout featuring steep fairways and rolling greens.

There are 115 suites and villas at the resort, ranging from 60-300 square metres, all with terraces. They are spread out in independent country houses on the hillside with views of the local medieval villages. The rooms are finished in natural wood and stone with chic furniture and en suite bathrooms, and are fully equipped with internet access and satellite television. Several rooms were refurbished during the lockdown and received a fresh look.
There are 2 outdoor pools including a stunning 600m infinity pool with panoramic views, and an outdoor bar area. Younger guests can play games or learn to swim in the Kids’ Club children’s pool.

The Spa at Terre Blanche is set within a large villa with open spaces and warm interior design. There are 14 massage and treatment rooms, a whirlpool bath, steam shower and an outdoor terrace to catch some sun after a treatment. The outdoor vitality pool is lovely to relax in with a drink, and there’s an indoor pool, bathed in natural light and heated to 28°C. If you fancy a workout, the well-equipped gym offers Aquagym, Aquabike, Body Sculpt, yoga and Pilates classes, and there’s two outdoor tennis courts.
