Belek, Turkey: All-inclusive golf destination
Along Colombia‘s northern Caribbean coast, the beautiful port city of Cartagena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beautiful 16th century colonial architecture, colourful houses, flower-filled balconies, salsa bars and cafes line the characterful, cobbled streets of this tropical paradise. Within twenty minutes of the city’s vibrant culture lies the stunning Conrad Cartagena by Hilton – the only Conrad resort in the Caribbean and the first in South America – delivering luxury with slick style and modern amenities that belie its tranquil beachfront location.
The hotel is home to an exceptional golf course, the Karibana Cartagena Golf Club. The course, by Nicklaus Design, is a landmark among high-standard golf courses in Latin America and is only one of two Tournament Players’ Club courses in the whole of South America.
Conrad Cartagena boasts a large, picturesque private beach, a beachfront swimming pool, an impressive air-conditioned fitness centre and tournament-level tennis courts. The resort’s 268 rooms and suites, including disabled accessible rooms, are housed in a six-storey building which faces either the beach, the golf course or the pool, which is adorned with palm trees, foliage and fire pits. ll the rooms feature contemporary décor, beds with integrated lighting and USB ports and furnished balconies or patios. Bathrooms have walk-in showers and tubs, and at the upper end of the room categories are four ground-floor suites that have private pools.
Conrad staff are committed to making your stay memorable and personal. Exclusive experiences and cultural activities can be arranged by Conrad team members in 1-, 3- and 5-hour itineraries, based on your interests. The resort also runs a twice-daily complimentary shuttle into the city, just 11 miles away. The hotel has 24,000 square feet of flexible event space to ensure your celebration or work event is an unforgettable occasion. Guests can arrange a carefully-tailored, intimate beachfront wedding and a top-shelf reception in the exquisite Grand Ballroom. The hotel also has a Kids Club and a convenience store.
There are seven high-quality restaurants serving cuisine ranging from Caribbean at the elegant, library-themed Biblioteka to Mediterranean at Adesso Tu – the indoor/outdoor all-day restaurant in the main building. Venues range from chic to casual and fun to sophisticated. Greet the morning with freshly roasted Colombian coffee and a Danish, cool off poolside with smoothies and Cartagena street food, or savour a decadent dessert overlooking the sea. After sunset, the action moves to the lobby bar, Son Y Ron, where guests can enjoy tropical music and salsa vibes.
The hotel offers several Stay & Play golf vacation packages and with legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus’ seal of approval, you know you’ll be playing on a high quality golf course. Opened in 2014, the par-72 layout forms the centrepiece of the 360-acre hotel development. Golfers can experience all the advanced technical specifications, comfort and location that Karibana Cartagena can offer. With the immaculate condition and subtle intricacies, the 7,064-yard course will appeal to golfers of all levels. A pro shop and instruction is available, as is a golf bag and equipment rental service.
While the front nine in surrounded by thick forest, full of exotic birds, the back nine is marked by wide-open Caribbean vistas. As well as the spectacular natural forest, the front nine, situated inland, has six artificial lakes around which the fairways are built. The back nine, configured as three par threes, three par fours and three par fives, opens up to oceanic beauty with scenic holes that flirt with the sea. The course hosted the first Cartagena de Indias at Karibana Championship on the Web.com Tour in 2015.
After playing 18 holes, guests can relax in the luxurious Conrad Spa and Salon. Refresh yourself with traditional Colombian healing practices which blend plant-based treatments with traditional therapies to leave you feeling well rested and relaxed. Or try a full-body scrub with locally harvested coffee or a deep-tissue massage. The Spa features ten treatment cabins, a private pool, two saunas, two hammams and a relaxation room.
Karibana Beach Club comprises a pool, restaurant and beach bar and is a five-minute walk or quick golf cart ride away from the main building. Guests have access to the private beach with its 1km of glistening sand furnished with palapas and beach chairs, and the clear, turquoise Caribbean waters. Enjoy the views that spread across the historic skyline of Cartagena and the excellent casual dining and international cocktails on offer.
