A luxury golf experience in the Seychelles

Perfect for golf in the winter or summer, Morocco offers visitors superb luxury resorts complimented by world-class golf courses, wonderful facilities and rich heritage. Here’s our pick of the best.
On the North African Coast, Morocco is hot and sunny during the summer months and averages around a pleasant 20 degrees over the winter period, ideal for year-round golf. Places of interest include the historic city of Marrakech which offers some of the best golf resorts in the country tucked away in the more peaceful suburbs, as well as incredible food, bazaars and architecture.
On the south-west coast, next to the Atlas Mountains, the city of Agadir is also known for its superb golf courses overlooking the Atlantic, as well as stylish restaurants, bars and shops. El Jadida, between Agadir and Casablanca, is another great spot where you can soak up Moroccan culture adorned with Portuguese inspired architecture.

Around 10km south of Marrakech, this superb five-star resort covers 230 hectares of age-old olive trees with over 130 lavish villas and suites, a state-of-the-art spa with massage cabins, tennis courts, outdoor and indoor pools, and an 18-hole golf course, all just 20 minutes from the famous Medina.
One of Cabell B Robinson’s best designs, this long and weaving course features large water features and presents a test of great variation for every level of golfer. It’s beautiful to look at with the foothills and and snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains in the background.
This five-star resort is located in Taghazout Bay, just 10 miles north of Agadir. It offers over 150 contemporary rooms with garden, resort or sea views along with a wonderful spa, Jacuzzi, hammam and sauna. The Souss Massa National Park is close by.
The resident golf course here, designed by Kyle Phillips, presents golfers with breathtaking views of the Atlantic, perched up 80m above sea level. It winds its way through natural Argan vegetation over rocky ravines, with the memorable final holes played along a steep cliff edge.

This luxurious and traditional five-star Moroccan palace is just 10 minutes from the centre of Agadir. It offers 280 guest rooms and 50 suites, each with a private bathroom and a balcony or terrace. There’s an outdoor pool, casino, thalassotherapy spa with hydro massage and pools, a fitness centre, three golf courses and a private beach.
Visitors can play the 36-hole Golf Du Soleil and the 27 holes at Golf Les Dunes, while the hotel gets preferential rates at the excellent Golf de L’Ocean, one of the newest golf courses close to Agadir. Featuring three sets of nine holes, it’s a stunning parkland layout in a naturally beautiful setting of sand dunes and pine trees. Lined by Eucalyptus trees, it runs alongside the Souss River with lovely ocean views.

Located just outside the historic town of El Jadida, this is a five-star luxurious place to stay alongside the Atlantic with its very own private beach. There’s also a casino, nightclub, several fine dining options, along with 500 guestrooms where authentic Moroccan tradition and charm meets stylish contemporary design.
Managed by the prestigious Troon Golf, Mazagan Golf Course was designed by Gary Player and has a links feel throughout with the fairways running between sand dunes over which breezes drift in from the Atlantic. It’s lush green and immaculately maintained. At over 7,500 yards, it’s the longest course in North Africa.
Located in the small town of Ifrane between Fez and Meknes, this is a five-star luxury chalet-like resort high up in the beautiful Atlas Mountains offering cooler summer temperatures. Its has an Alpine ambience transported to Morocco, with log, wood and stone interiors surrounded by evergreen oak and cedar forests. There’s 70 exceptional rooms and suites with balconies overlooking the pool or surrounding forest, as well as a superb spa.
The resort is home to a great course from Jack Nicklaus which opened in 2018. It was designed to incorporate the landscape and scenery and the three signatures holes at 9, 17 and 18 all have incredible views. It’s a spectacular parkland layout with mature trees and rocky outcrops, and despite the mountain setting golf can be played here through late Autumn and in early Spring.
Located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast just south of the historic port city of Essaouira with its wonderful sweeping crescent beach, this five-star resort is just two hours from from Marrakech and under three hours from Agadir. There’s almost 150 guest rooms and suites as well as 28 villas, including two designed by Lacoste, all overlooking the ocean. There’s a world-class spa, two outdoor pools, four restaurants, and a Gary Player-designed golf course.
Golf de Mogador looks over the ocean and is regarded as one of the finest courses in Morocco. It’s a parkland course but it boasts a mix of links-style holes and woodland holes as well as some enjoyable elevation changes with superb views, perfect for a golf vacation by the sea and in the sun.

Outside of the resorts, visitors to Morocco have the option of visiting plenty more world-class courses, including the Jack Nicklaus-designed Samanah Country Club in south Marrakech, Assoufid Golf Club which is close by, and Royal Golf Dar Es Salam just outside Rabat, Morocco’s capital city.
