The Players Championship 2025: A Preview of Golf’s ‘Fifth Major’

Callaway Golf has revealed their 2024 Paradym Ai Smoke Drivers, Fairway Woods, Irons and Hybrids – all designed using player data and artificial intelligence. Are they the clubs for you?
This launch follows the American brand’s 2023 release of their Paradym fairway woods, hybrids and irons which were revealed along with the Paradym, Paradym X, and Paradym Triple Diamond drivers.
The artificial intelligence technology in this new range features the innovative Ai Smart Face, which is designed to produce sweet spots throughout the entire face.
The new Paradym Ai Smoke Drivers are a big advancement in Callaway’s use of Ai technology. The Ai Smart Face used swing data from thousands of golfers to create over 50,000 virtual prototypes, each optimised for better driver performance. This Ai Smart Face technology provides enhanced launch and spin on off-centre shots by more sweet spots across the face through the activation of micro deflections on impact.
Then there’s the 360° Carbon Chassis which has a 15 percent weight reduction and improved weight distribution. This has been achieved with an added internal titanium support structure for better launch conditions and more forgiveness. The range of drivers includes four models:

Ai Smoke MAX – Distance and adjustability. Suitable for moderate swing speeds. There’s adjustable perimeter weighting for up to 19 yards of shot correction. Mid-high launch. Low Spin. Neutral flight.
MAX D – Distance and MOI (forgiveness). For players with moderate swing speeds. High MOI and elongated shape for shot correction. High launch. Mid-low spin. Adjustable SG rear weight. Draw flight.
Triple Diamond – Distance and workability. For better players with average to fast swing speeds who want workability with their shots. Low spin. Adjustability from 14g and 2g interchangeable weights. Neutral/fade flight.
MAX Fast – Lightweight performance with bonded hosel. For slower swing speeds. Highest launch. Mid-low spin. Adjustability from fitting screw. Lightweight design for easier swinging. Draw flight.
The Paradym Ai Smoke Fairway Woods also feature Callaway’s Ai Smart Face technology. This particularly helps with better performance in low face hits, where most fairway wood misses happen. There’s a Carbon Chassis which enhances launch, spin and forgiveness. And the Tungsten Speed Cartridge moves the centre of gravity low and forward for better distance and launch. The range of fairway woods includes four models:
Ai Smoke MAX – Distance and adjustability. Suitable for moderate swing speeds. High launch. Low Spin. Neutral flight. An adjustable hosel in the 3W and 3HL models for additional control to dial in loft and shot shape.

MAX D – Distance and high MOI. Suitable for moderate swing speeds. Launch high. Mid-low spin. An adjustable hosel in the 3W model for additional control to dial in loft and shot shape. Draw flight.
Triple Diamond – Distance and workability. Higher swing speed. Penetrating launch. Low spin. Neutral-fade flight. Adjustable hosel and forward weight screw.
MAX Fast – Lightweight performance and forgiving with bonded hosel. For lower swing speeds. Highest launch. Mid-low spin. Adjustable from fitting screw. Draw flight.
Again, the Ai Smart Face improves distance and tightens shot dispersion. Theres also a shallower profile for higher launch and the Tungsten Speed Cartridge provides distance. A sole camber improves turf interaction. All models are adjustable. There are three options to choose from:

Ai Smoke – Distance and accuracy. High launch. Average to faster swing speed. Larger head for more forgiveness and confidence at address. Enhanced sole camber for better turf interaction.
Ai Smoke HL – Distance and optimal launch. Average swing speed. More distance, higher launch and dispersion control.
Ai Smoke Max Fast – Slower swing speeds. Bonded hosel makes it lighter to generate more swing speed and highest launch.
The Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Irons feature the Ai Smart Face and are designed for exceptional distance, accuracy and optimal launch. They have a longer blade length, thinner toplines and the sole widths create a forgiving look at address. Improved turf interaction comes courtesy of the new Dynamic Sole which has a pre-worn leading edge with variable bounce. The three options are:

Ai Smoke – Distance and accuracy. Hollow body. Average to fast swing speeds. High launch.
Ai Smoke HL – Distance and optimal launch. Deep cavity back. Average swing speeds. High launch.
MAX Fast – Slow to average swing speeds. Deep cavity back. Highest launch.
